The megapixel race seems to be getting intense now with manufacturers really starting to bump up the MP count of their cameras, irrespective of the image quality. It is common knowledge that the increase in resolution has not led to a major jump in digicam sales but, I guess it's easier to fit a high resolution sensor than to fix issues regarding image quality, noise and low light performance.

Nonetheless, manufacturers will try to outdo and one up each other in this race and we have a fine example in the Samsung camera that we are reviewing today. The L310W is a 13 MP compact camera that comes with a wide angle lens and lots of advanced features that will make you want to click more.

Design

The Samsung L310W's whopping 13 Megapixel sensor, 3.6x optical zoom lens and advanced features are all packed into a hard compact case, which makes it easy to carry it around in your pocket or handbag.

It has a brushed metal finish across the front, while the back of the camera is dominated by the 2.7-inch LCD screen (230,000 pixel resolution) and a few buttons lined alongside. The power button, mode dial and shutter release are all placed on the top with the back holding the zoom rocker  and a standard set of controls that most Samsung cameras come with.
