These are special anti-virus disks that can be used to scan the computer without starting the OS.
I'm generally called up by friends and family to fix their computers when things go wrong. Fixing often means getting rid of malware stuck deep into their systems. And have you noticed the ugly trend now? No longer do you find viruses that destroy data, but rather Trojans that very happily collect data and phone home to their server secretly. Well if I've to choose between data destroying virus and secretly collecting information virus, I'd rather prefer the latter.
In any case, this often means I've to download updated virus definitions, carry anti-virus software installers, process explorer when Windows Task Manager fails to open, spyware programs and assorted cleaning utilities to pry the nasty buggers loose. Though this kit does most of my job, I do lack one essential utility - a Rescue Disk.
Rescue disks aren't backed up files; these are special anti-virus disks that can be used to scan the computer without starting the operating system. What's the use of this, plenty!
i would like to download the software to my mobile

Best of all is a combination of a few things if u really wanna keep ur machine steady & run for a longer time. Have ZONE ALARM as ur Fire wall, AVG Anti-Virus Free Addition to protect ur PC. Clean ur PC timely with SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY, WINDOW WASHER, REG CLEAN or CCLEANER & UNIBLUE POWERSUIT. I've been using this for the last 2 years & everything is absolutely fine.

And if I may add in addition Commodo Personal Firewall has another effective defence where you can scan for malware, spyware and viruses, cant ask for more. Try it. Cheers

Never use Quick heal or Net protect . They will finish ur system. Avast, F Secure or Pc Tools is a good option.

I am Using Avast & it Rally rocks... Tried some 11+ Antiviruses including Symantec, AVG PRO, Kaspersky, NOD32 etc.. but found Peace with Avast finally. I used each Antivirus for atleast 2 months each for testing under various conditions. The major Drawback with avast is that the scanning is HORRIBLY SLOW but Quite DEEP. Also Avast is not good for detecting SPYWARE, i am using Spybot Search & Destroy for that purpose.

it is a different stuff, but once u have burned the rescue disc, than for every update file u need to add new virus defination to cd again and again....... i think any person can't burn the CD for every next update

Many times I used "HiJack this" to remove reg entries by PM viruses. As for me, I find Avast to be one of the overall best performer in the Free AV segment. Avast's boot time scan is a big plus for me too. Saved my system once. :-)
