I've been reviewing digicams for some time now, which automatically translates to "I'm the official family photographer." So, if there's any social occasion that needs to be freeze-framed, I will be pressurized into attending it, however boring it may be. Right now, I have hundreds of pictures -- of various occasions -- that need to be e-mailed to friends and family, but lazy bum that I am, I haven't even resized them.

You might not be interested in what's going on with me, but I'm sure a lot of you have loads of pics from your digicams and haven't yet sent them to anyone -- just because they're too big to e-mail. If that's how it is, read on.

The software
PhotoRazor (nothing to do with Motorola) is a 933KB utility that lets you resize images quickly and easily. You can choose to resize a single file, or batch process an entire folder. Installation is a breeze -- four clicks and you're done. The simple interface allows even the most technologically challenged to use it with ease.

The program window is divided into three parts. The right side of the window shows the list of pictures that will be converted; a preview of the resulting images comes up in the center. The left side of the window is devoted to the program options. Operations are numbered in the order you'd use them.

Try shrinkpic also a very small utility. It sits in your tray You do not need to resize your photos prior to sending them. Just select and attach them to your mail. Let the photo be of any size. Depending on the option you selected (there are three options to resize) it automatically shrinks your photo attaches to the mail with almost 100% clarity and quality and sends it. And it never alters the original image and the original photo will be intact. About the resources it uses, techtree only has to test it.

Picasa does the resizing just as well, i find it even simpler than Irfan view and just about everyone can learn its features in no time...a much better option i would say!

Irfanview does the resizing and batch processing just as well, is just as easy to install, and is far more efficient... er .. and it also does 2 million other things!

Win XP has it's own Photo Resizer.....in-built and integrated into Explorer...just takes a few mouse clicks and some more geeky knowledge to actually show it...but nonetheless very useful.
