Philips Digital Photo Display

Philips Digital Photo Display

A picture is worth a thousand words. This gadget is worth a lot more.

Sleek design, High quality display, Auto-resize feature, Fast operation, Card reader.

Very Expensive, Poor battery life.

Nothing can capture a moment better than a photograph. It's the perfect companion for reliving a family vacation or a birthday party. These days digital cameras are very popular. They are easy to use, easy to capture images and transfer them electronically. But if you really want to go digital, you need a Digital Photo Display. This pretty little package is the perfect ally for your digicam.

Changing Faces
The Philips Digital Photo Display is a great product to have. There have been other such digital photo frames, but they offered a poor display. This photo display is 5.4" x 3.6" with a max resolution of 720 x 480 pixels. It connects to your PC or Laptop via a USB port. You can simply transfer the photos from your PC and view them. The display quality is excellent, unlike the older digital displays. You can store your photos and wallpapers, select the one you want to be displayed and you have an excellent digital image on your desk.

The Photo Display automatically resizes high resolution photos and displays sharp images without any loss in quality. It supports JPEG photos up to 12 Mega pixels. It comes with 12 MB internal memory to store up to 50 high quality photos. It has an external card slot, which supports most card formats like SD/MMC/MS and Compact Flash. So you can just insert your card and browse through the photos directly. The card slot gives you the option for storing many photos, not relying on the limited 12 MB internal memory. You can browse through the photos or view them as a slide show. The slideshow is well presented, with transition effects to each photo.

Photogenic
The Digital Photo Display looks very sleek. It's been designed to look good on your office desk or at home. It has a hard plastic casing, with a sturdy metal stand. The menu system can be a little confusing at first, but once you get used to it, the navigation is very easy and effective. The Digital Photo Display comes with a set rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. On a full charge it operates for 50 minutes. So you have keep it connected to power supply often. That is one of the cons of this product. The other con being the price. The product is expensive, very expensive, Rs 13,000 to be precise. But if exclusivity is one of your virtues, this is the product for you.

This product may have a major disadvantage in its price, but it still is an uber cool product. The photos look great, it offers you multiple card reading options and it looks good on your desk; something that will certainly catch the attention of the person you are trying to impress. Some creative minds can also use this product to give a presentation. Alternatively, you can always you this to directly view the snaps stored on memory cards. This is certainly not a bad gift for friends and family, if you have deep pockets.

HELP!! Frozen Screen Have tried to send some photos from my PC to the screen and it froze part way through. Pressed the reset button like it says in the instructions but now every time I try to switch it on, it goes through the reading photo screen onto a screen saying just Philips and then freezes on that, cannot do anything. If I switch it off, screen stays frozen and have to reset it again. Also, if I try to reconnect to PC I get a message saying that the item I am trying to connect has malfunctioned. Don?t suppose anyone knows of any way to resolve this (master reset or something)?

Finally, I was waiting for something like this, where the whole family could view pictures, without having to have be computer friendly, This still needs a USB connection, If only, they would have Albums stored on USB Disk, which anybody, however computer illeterate could connect and watch a 1000 or so pictures, the key is accessibility,
