Opera Mobile 10 Beta: First Look

Opera Mobile 10 Beta: First Look

For Symbian S60 Phones

Opera has taken covers off the latest edition of its Mobile Browser for Symbian smart phones, Opera Mobile 10 Beta. The launch of Opera Mobile 10 Beta comes a few months after the announcement of the visually similar Opera Mini 5.

We took the browser for a quick spin around the world wide web -- and boy! Has it left us impressed! Opera Mobile 10 takes a quantum leap over its predecessors -- initially visually with a very slick UI and smooth scrolling and later with the overall way it behaves. Once you start using the browser, it dawns upon you that the changes are much more than cosmetic.

New Look

The User Interface of Opera Mobile 10 draws heavily from that of Opera Mini 5. From what it seems, looks like Opera will now offer a "unified look" for its browsers across various platforms. Once you install Opera Mobile 10 (The sis file is just over 4 MB in size), you're greeted by the now familiar homepage with nine speed dial options. As mentioned earlier, this page (and the rest of the browser) looks exactly similar to Opera Mini 5. The speed dial links are editable and you can choose what sites you want there for quick access. Opera Mobile supports inline editing and packs a very usable QWERTY keyboard for touch screen devices. For devices with accelerometers, the QWERTY keyboard adapts quite neatly in both portrait and landscape modes.

you can edit speeddial. To do so, you need to longpress on speeddial entry, then you'll get the menu with options (Edit and Clear)

Accepted. Opera mobile 10 is great. What have you talked about? Just a few screen shots.... and you call it a review. Explain the undercover difference between the Opera mini 5 and this piece. What's this Opera turbo? TECHtree don't stay LAYMANtree.

I think Opera Turbo has been fairy covered in this review. And make no mistake about this, this IS a layman oriented review because it is meant to be. Not everyone is technologically well endowed :-) so, we always keep it simple unless its targeted at an audience that understands hardcore geeky stuff.. like GPU's motherboards and stuff? Thanks for writing in.
