This 10 MP ultra zoom camera from Olympus can be a good choice for amateurs.

20x optical zoom, Dual Image Stabilisation, Good range of scene modes, Good Macro and Super Macro performance, Minimal shutter lag, Guide Mode, EVP with Diopter adjustment. Good flash range

ISO 3200 & 6400, Burst mode and Pre-Capture only available at 5 MP or below, Evident noise in most pictures, High barrel distortion at wide angle, Soft corners at telephoto, Confusing Menu system.

The Olympus SP-565 UltraZoom is one of the latest additions to their line of ultra zoom cameras that'll put a smile on amateurs and enthusiasts. The SP-565's design is based on the SP-560 with slight changes being made to the dimensions; the 565 being slightly bigger but lighter. Even so, it has a 1/2.33-inch CCD with a 10 MP (max) resolution, coupled with a 26-520mm 20x optical zoom lens. We've put it to test, and here's how it all goes. Design

The styling of the body and similar specifications will make many identify this as a DSLR. The front of the 565-UZ houses the massive 20x optical zoom lens, with the controls placed quite comfortably at the back. Placed on top of the camera is the Mode dial, Shutter release switch and the power button.

The back of the camera accommodates a 2.5-inch LCD with a max resolution of 230,000 pixels, D-pad and a few other buttons placed around it. Apart from the LCD screen, the SP-565 UZ comes with a LCD EVF with diopter adjustment. Even though it doesn't have the rubberized grip and the thumb pad we saw on the SP-560, the Olympus SP-565 US is easy to hold and fits comfortably in your hand. Overall, the design is good but still lacks the refinement of earlier ultra zoom models from Olympus.
