OCZ ATV 16GB Flash Drive

OCZ ATV 16GB Flash Drive

Aniket Kadam, Jun 19, 2008 1614 hrs IST

Want your flash drive to take a dip in the lake and still be readable? We look at a rugged flash drive.

Fast read speed for multiple files, shock-resistant and water-resistant rubber jacket, cap holder.

Extremely slow multiple file write speed, keychain keeps snapping out, longer than typical drives.

Design & Specifications

The ATV is covered in rubber, from the tip to the keychain. This is one sturdy drive and it certainly looks and feels the part. It is heavier than usual, but that only adds to the rugged feel. However, this protective shell also attracts dust and dirt.

It is longer than usual at 8 cm and feels a bit odd in your pocket if you're used to carrying around the average pen drive.

It comes with a keychain at the end, which holds one of its unique features - a cap holder. The flash drive's cap can be secured onto this bit of plastic at the end so it won't get lost when you take it off.

It claims to be shockproof and waterproof as well.

The drive has blue tracks against a background of black along on the sides. The word ATV written in orange on the front with the site's URL on the back gives it a decent look. An LED, placed at the end just ahead of the hole for the keychain, flashes orange when data is being transferred. Unlike most drives, the LED stays on when the drive is idle. The keychain comes apart to let you put in your keys but it does so too easily, and occasionally the chain might snap out when you don't want it to. It also feels rather flimsy compared to the rest of the drive.

OCZ is *not* little known. They are also known as PC Power and Cooling, aka, the best in the industry.
