The MOTOROKR E6 from Motorola is already a very famous phone, thanks to their advertising campaign with the Bollywood star of the moment. People have had this delusion that the ROKR is a slider whereas the fact is that it is actually a PDA. Most phones in the series were candy bar phones and hence the misconception doesn't really come as a surprise. I was under the impression that the default package bundled the same stylish wireless headset as seen in the advertisement. Though we did receive the standard package, Motorola was kind enough to offer us the headset. Read on to know how hard can the ROKR rock your world?
Hi ..i bought Motorokr E6 second hand.Excellent phone great sound quality And video quality .Got all accessories including bill but i didn't get the CD's can anyone tell me where i can download the content of the CD's .I also changed the firmware so i lost music id and some other softwares which came with the phone .... can anyone suggest where to get them...

Guys, my humble suggestion, go to sites like mouthshut.com, http://www.esato.com/phones/ , or even nokia.com and click on phones, there you can compare upto 3 phones and check out the features in the list left to the display, very neatly organised indeed (this is in case u r hell bent on buying a nokia), these sites are dedicated for serious people who wanna decide before buying, personally i feel, in case today u want a allrounder phone, check out nokia n80, the only phone with features like wifi, else for a music phone which beats the world and u dont mind showing off, take the n91, the bose like headsets wth it will take ur breath off(i own 1 !) or else u want all of the stuff go for a pda like HP IPAQ, fantastic sound and windows os and edge,3g etc, All the best !

Bought this phone from a dealer in Bangalore, came home opened the seal and found the S9 missing. Called the dealer who promised to ensure he S9 is replaced. Well im about to go there.. Lets pray he gives me a new s9. Yea , i know i should have opened it in the shop and verified. My bad.. Will try updating if I have been sucessful with with the s9 replacement or not.

10,300 Rs. It is having one speaker. Sound quality is fine. camera is ok.. lots of feature combined in one set. Drawback: Can't dial a number while driving. Stylus has to be secured, as i have heard that its accesories are difficult to find........ Rest a gud fone to mingle with........

Hi swathi, This is santhosh, ok do one thinking try someother sim card and try to send the sms, if its also u have the same problem. then switch off ur phone and remove the batter and reinset the battery and then switch on, then final update the service centre number. Then it will ok

if u are confused wheter to buy a motorokr e6 or a nokia n73...then i would suggest the motorokr as it gives better features ,ergonomics and design than the n73 it is a truely amazing phone and is an alternative to other phones like n73 or even the sony ricsson w580i..........this is the solution for mr.robert from coimbatore

go for n73 anytime. that is best phone u can get with all the features packed in it and the best part it is very user friendly. as it is not atouch screen it is very easy to use, music quality is very good, the speakers are best. screen resolution is th best. in built memory is ~ 40mb as compared to motorokr e6 which have only 6mb. n73 supports 2gb momory card and still have good processing speed. i can tell all this b'coz i use both models.

i was confused between the same 2 phones for 3 months, when finally went in for a ROKR. I chose it because i loved touchscreens, and it looked gorgeous... and it does not dissappoint... i'd say if u r looking for music, better to buy the ROKR cuz u can get the premium pack with bluetooth headphones cheaper than an N73. both have 2gb memory. the loudspeaker of the n73 is only slightly better, but u really don't look for music quality on a cellphone's loudspeaker. and as far as audio quality in-ear is concerned the rokr's bluetooth headset is great!!! plus, u have d advantage of plugging in any standard earphones which u feel have better quality... the rokr also comes with external music keys, so its more convenient. and the n73's joystick is very uncomfortable, as with any joystick... the rokr has a D-pad, as well as touch screen. the touch screen is optimally sensitive, without being too sensitive (read Apple iPhone), or too unresponsive (Chinese touch screen mobiles). The absence of a keypad is barely felt, till u have to type a message or a note, or search a particular song, but u can really manage, even with a FINGER!!!! the ui is great, more like a pc than a phone... the real player is also great, with easy menus and functionality. The n73 has a better camera (but images and videos are much heavier). the n73's numeric pad is very cramped and uncomfortable. If u aren't looking for a very good camera, the rokr is much much better... if u haven't already bought a phone. and if u bought an N73, too bad........ :(

hiiiiiiiii motorokr E6 is more stylish than N73,coz it have touch screen.. its user interface is also good.. but it is not a 3G phone which N73 is. while the music loudness and clarity is same which i found..

Hi evrybody ! All ur comments were really helpful to choose Motorokr as my phone ! I recently bought it, only thing that really disturbs me is when i lock the fone using unlock code n it displays POWER OFF on locked screen n which can get pressed when in pocket or in hands. Due to which i accidentally made fone off FOR HOURS :( without even aware of it. I dont want to use lock button provided on side of it as keep it in pouch n dnt like to pull it off pouch each time i have to use it. Looking for ur valuable comments !!

Hi! For those of you still struggling to config Rediffmail on your MotoRokr E6 - Rediff does not support WAP POP3. However, the good news is Gmail does. Those who need their Rediffmail working might have to get a Gmail ac and auto-forward Rediff mails to the Gmail ac. I tried it and works fine for me.

hi you can manually select the browser or some operator send those settings to ur mobile as soon as u activate gprs it will display on ur screen as there is software update for ur phone select ok or else call the customer care and ask for that then u can easily browse gprs

yeah, u can download the zmplayer pkg installation file. then u install it in ur phone using yan0's MPKG. specially designed for ROKR and MING, it plays all formats, but cant get .wmv to work (perhaps something was wrong with that video)... gimme ur email id, i'll attatch the pkg installation file for u...

Bluetooth is certainly worth style and music quality. sound quality is same as ipod . its just that ipod is little louder than rokr.

Even I own a Nano I pod, but the E6 Bluetooth headset is competing equally to the ipod, the wirefree music option is too good, but u get this bluetooth stereo headphone comes only with the premium model which incudes 2gb memory (costs 17000), normal one costs 14000 with 1 gb memory and normal stereo headphones. Final say : Go and grab it, such a good phone.

Warning! I finally got it from the horses mouth. Nokia N73ME does not have A2DP support and therefore, S9 wont work in the stereo mode!!! How stupid to have a music phone and lacking in essential music features. For the first time I felt buying Nokia was a stupid idea! Think wise Nokia!

Hey Indrajit, There is a version update available in nokia site for N73m. the updated version has the A2DP. I have updated it recently. Although there are many bloggers saying that the update didn't go through well and the phone is getting hanged, but it working perfectly for me after i did the update. I am also looking for the S9 headset, but it's a bit out of budget for me now;)

Hi Binayak, I did update and it is working fine with me too. I did not put this info here but I did comment on the update in my review on Mouthshut. But again there are some more updates and it is apain to do the update as it takes about 45 mins to do it with a good broadband network. And while updating, the net should be on continuously and power shouldn't go!! If it does then the phone has to be given to a service centre and I had a bad experience with Nokia service already with my previous phone 6630. I would rate the product excellent if not for the following flaws ! 1 - Business card can be sent via Blue tooth or MMS. 2 - Typing SMS is a bit boring .. you have to go thro lots of taps to end up composing. 3 - Video format setting is not easy 4 - Your cannot customize the screen to suite your short cuts. 5 - It does not read your *.vcf files downloaded from Nokia. 6 - you use the phone for week with lots of calling and receiving calls .. it slows down , the just dialed list takes ages to show up. you need to do a lot of tapping on the screen to get to your objective.7 - Sending an SMS when riding your bike impossible. 8 - The given software didn't work on my XP SP2. The downloaded software takes ages to find my mobile. 9 - Battery stays only for 2 days with about 1 hr talking per day. 10 - Every time you get a call or make one you end up with the contacts menu as your ear touches the screen. 11- No screen saver option. 12 - Contacts searching is again lots of taps and then again press the green button to call. 13 - The menu are not user friendly or the flow of actions . it irritates at time of urgencies when you just cannot make that call or read that SMS. 14 - Oh Remember to GROW YOUR NAILS , pulling out the stick and trying to use the phone is .... 15 -There is no mention or software update for this phone on the indian web space of Motorola 16 - Not many java application that can run on this phone (tried a few .. invain) 17 - No way of putting the phone call in silent mode when you don't want to take it. 18 - Setting category for frequently dialed numbers is possible only on phone memory number and not from SIM memory. 19 - Body gets scratched when you keep it down on a table in office as there is only the camera and the bottom body touching the ground.

I want your help!!!!!!!! I ve MOTOROKR E6 Premium ie with the S9 bluetooth device.So when I listen to music using the bluetooth device I m able to hear the music from both the speakers (left and right) but when a call comes and I attend the call from the bluetooth device ,I hear the voice of the caller only in one speaker ie right one.Is this the case with every one of you who is using this device????? Can some one please tell me is this the way it works or my snoop is defective.Please help me .

Your S9 is just working fine.... Calls are audible only in left phone. You please refer page 26 of MOTOMANUAL of S9

Hi All I purchase the Roker 2 month back. I find some problem in this phone. The Problem is any one is calling to my mobile they are getting the FAX Tone. I check with the Service center 2 times first time they done some software update. but still the problem is not solved. I am using the Hutch SIM card. Hello Friends Its a good mobile phone. I have purchased for 13,450.00 INR(Ordinary) from MobileNxt, Mysore on 09th Sep 2007. Its manufacturing date is May 07. Before buying the mobile you should see manufacturing date and box seal is not opened. That will ensure your mobile for good battery backup and bug free. Ordinary pack contains MotoRockr, Wired Motorola Stereo head phone, 1GB microSD card with SD tray, 1000mah battery in separate cover, Motorola Charger, USB Cable & 2CD. There was 30 songs already stored in my memory card. I faced some problem in navigating the songs by scrolling, it got stucked up temporary during scrolling. Actually that was not a problem, I deleted all the 30 songs and freshly loaded 250 mp3 songs. The scrolling works fine with 250 mp3 songs. Battery backup is 2-3 days with out less usage. Don't charge the battery always, it will kill ur battery life. Avoid USB interface frequently as it goes to charging when u plug. Better charge it using ordinary charger when the battery meter indicates 20%. Charge it fully until the charging getting disconnected automatically(~2hrs). The internal features are same of MotoMingA1200. Don't buy MotoMing-low battery backup, old model(new one is not available in market, battery will discharge in the pack unless it is been used in short period of months), Output mp3 sound & ring sound are very less, Price: 11,450.00 INR, manufacturing Sept 2006. MotoRock really rocks- good business card reader, sound output is more than sony erricson W810i, touch screen response is good, voice clarity is good, 2mp camera is well in outdoor, unlimited voice recording(choose storage location to sd memory), 5Hrs video storage in 3gp with 15fps 320:480 screen resolution(good to see the video in mobile itself). Internal memory is only 8MB, always choose jar installation to memory card. Try to avoid usage of phone memory. My 1GB card is full loaded now, processing response is amazing as compared to Nokia N series. It has fabulous features as compared with same price range of sony errison & Nokia. Data transfer is very fast as compared with Nokia N95. I have used N95 for 3 months, but this Rockr having more features than N95 neglecting 5mp camera & video. Rockr reads .doc, .ppt, .xls, .pdf- but first page can be viewed by its viewer. I need to get other jar application of good reading and editing. FM radio speaker output is very good as compared to N95. Mp3 sound from speaker of Rockr is 80% of N95. But in headphones Rockr rocks than N95. Overall Rockr is worth as compared with the price and competers. Rockr premium pack is costing 2750.00INR extra. It contain 2GB card & Motorola S9 Stereo Headphone. Stereo headphone have lot of bad remarks like non water sweat resistant. audio lags with video in phone, since the mobile have to handle both bluetooth and real player. Hand writing precognitions and composing messages in hand writing is very good, fast and stylish. Asphalt2 Car gaming is very good. Its gaming processing is amazing. I played the game with hearing mp3 in its real player. Two process real player and game handled very well without any lag or sound quality reduction. This shows that its good enough to handle multi process operation. Same processing in N95 is very shame. Calender & meeting can be set notified in ur rockr in a good way. It is much user friendly. Hi, I know about this problem. I called my friend from my Hutch mobile who was using Airtel and heard such FAX tone. But soon after, I called from Airtel landline to his Airtel mobile again and heard the same FAX tone. So upto my knowledge it is not because of the Hutch network. It should be something else. My friend is using Nokia 5200 handset. I think tThis infomation might be helpful for you to trace out.

hi nagarajan, you may face this problem due network operator not from mobile, change other network operator in your city and try.. hi some other tips for others : im using this phone around 5 months, Good : MP3,FM,still camera clarity, blue tooth headset, display clairty, memory card usage. Average : Battery, sound, games, song supporting formats. Pooor : Video camera, theams,keypad(dead use for message senders),no interesting & extra application found in this model and over cost.

I seriously think N70 is defective. My 1.5 year old N70 has broken down and even the Nokia care engineers could not do anything about it. I paid approx 20K for it. I have now shelled out Rs.1,400 to a local mobile mechanic who has promised to make it working again. I have heard similar complaints from other people about N70 going down and unable to even start up. Has anyone else faced similar issues with N70 ?

i believe u either dont know the internals of this phone or u have some bias against it. I have motorola ming and E6 is a superset of ming. first of all, i would like to tell u that it is not a PDA, rather its a level above PDA- a computer phone. It is the most customizable phone available in the market. Since it is linux based, so lot of applications can be (and have been) develop for this phone. And just for your knowledge: -its CPU can be overclocked -Its volume can be increased dramatically -All keys can be re-programmable -edge can be activated through some mods -It is very easy to flash and there are several de-branded/generic firmwares are available in the linux community -By this year end, when motorola release its linux OS code (libraries), then there will be no limit for its customization. -as far as its camera is concerned, once u r used to it, it produces some of the best pics that can be taken with a mobile camera. ofcourse, all these developments are not approved by motorola and their customer care don't even know about all this. All these softwares and modds are developed by freelance programmers and are under GNU license. We all linux users are successfully using these modds and if anything goes wrong, we can flash it, which takes hardly 60-80 minutes. its better u first discuss it with any linux developer and then give your opinions. thanks

well about reviews i would like to say , 'go check the phone again' , as u said real player is slow , jst delete the .drm files it will be exceptionally faster , fm radio is all stereo , converts mono to stereo, for music try bluetooth s9 , fantastic sound , u can even install applications , i have a media player with equilizer n that works great , now about customisation fully customisatble , 4 out of lower five shortcuts can be changed , edge can be activated , camera is fine , touch screen is fine has slow down after installing a hell lot of applications but sill lot fastr than symbions , it rocks really ..

First of all Dhval it is MotoRokr NOT MOTO ROCKR !! and regarding your questionthat is it a good deal ...dude just look at the condition of the phone and then take the decision if it is in good condition it is a good deal and ya just check is it with the bluetooth headset (s9) if it is it is a awsome deal and grab it .if not its a Ok OK deal and you could take it ....anyways .....jjust check the conditon of the phone and make sure it has not been opened at a local shop and it is with warranty !!! if all this is fine you should take it deffinetly !!!

The Good points 1 - Great display , very clear and crisp sensitivity. 2 - Audio quality is good a little treble could be better. 3 - Movies play good but multiple layers of screens make it difficult to focus. There is strong background reflection, 4 - Default screen is good with quick accessibility to important menus 5 - It did not hang even once ! 6 - Good idea to use the USB port to charge and data transfer. 7 - Head set is good with gold plated contacts. 8 - Bluetooth data transfer speed it good. 9 - Business card reader is a good option , works excellent. 10 - The phone is light weight and needs some care in handling due to the touch screen getting scratched or activating some key ! - These are my comments and observations.

If you guyz really want a music phone i suggest going for the walkman series...i'm not really impressed with the UI that motoming and the e6 have and if anyone is planning to go for the W810 i would suggest going for the newer and better in style, functions, and performance...the W610i it is fast supports A2DP and has the walkman 2.0 which supports album art...and memory which can be upgraded to 4 gb..i've been using it for the past 3 months...it's awesome

Hi Swamy, If you use a lot of internet I'll suggest you to go for a phone that supports EDGE. If speed it not a problem for you, then MotoRokr will work just fine! And check out a new software by the name MOrange! You dont need a POP3 supporting phone to use it and it works absolutely fine!

And which handset of Nokia's are you talking about ? They dont have any touchscreen handset at all. Sony Ericcson has one ( M600i) but it lacks a camera and is slow as hell !. So your statement that Sony and Nokia has more features is absolutely wrong. Also 3G aint in India. If you want Motorola to charge 2k extra for another camera and 3G functionality, then that is just stupid ! Plus Motorola never claims this is a PDA. They say its a music phone. Thats what the 3.5 mm jack is for. The PDA version phone is the Motoming (A1200) Edge is the only drawback I can think of this phone.

Please tell me you were joking ? The W660i ? It lacks EDGE, it doesnt have an autofocus cam, so the ROKR is as good, it lacks a touchscreen ! (The main feature of the ROKR !) It uses bloody expensive M2 memory ( costs 2000 for 1 GB, Transflash costs 400 !). And it has 3G features which are useless in India since 3G mostly will be bypassed in favor of 4G. So buying the W660i is useless ! The W810i is better than that POS W660i. How can u people compare apples with oranges. Compare a touchscreen phone with another touchscreen phone for Pete's sake ! If anybody wants a real PDA phone, upgrade the budget to 18k and get a Dopod D600 with Windows Mobile 5.0 software, but dont expect good music as its earphones are good only for calls.

Do not purchase this phone if you sweat more. I had purchased the same on 1/07/07 and the phone was dead on 11/07/07 reasons given my the company "water logging" and hence out of waranty, this was a shock for me. Then after explaing that the phone was never dropped or touched b water. I was tried to convince it may be my sweat which has entered the phone and hence destroyed the phone. It was a good phone but "onlyfor people who dont sweat" or else you are taking a risk of approx Rs.14000

What about the touch screen? does it get spoil for wet? my hands are always wet or sweaty. can i use the touch screen. i am impressed with the phone. give me some more details about the pros and cons of the phone.

I think no problem with phone...it's great buy!! May be u shld get u r hands medically checked if they swet a lot & things get wet & sticky...(advice) keep a hankerchief.

If this is a PDA, why no Wi-Fi? How about applications that work on Linux, but use office files off my PC? if not what is the PDA for? My ideal PDA phone does not need a (bad) camera!

Yeah.. it's true. My ideal pda doesn't even need a hi-fi music player with a bluetooth headset. I would have settled for Wi-fi instead. What a waste..

rokr is not a pda, for pda u can opt for dopod or blackberry. rokr is for young people with a little street smart styling, its modest cost and reasonably fast touchscreen makes it a decent buy.

Hello, I was thinking of buying Samsung U600 , but when i went to univercell , they showed me this rockr , and it purely rocked!!! when they brought the fone to show me , i was like "okaay!!! is that like some 30k???" and that guy said 14k.. and i almost fainted!!! This phone rocks... gonna buy it in 2 hours! :D

Its good.. But if r using SE then u will miss something. Music player is not like walkman2.0.. Bt support all the format.. Torchscreen is gr8 bt less customization option is a -.Bt the phone is gr8 for casual user. Its gr8 for those who r casual user and nt so haapy go lucky for music..(Dont misundrstood me.. Music is gr8 here bt the sound is bit low..using my creative EP headphone is sound real pleasure.. bt it comes a cost of missing call).. the best part is u will get lots of theme and flash upgread in each and every site..even there is a flash upgrd 4 sound bt I havnt tried that.) Overall im happy with the phone. I wise if there is some coustomization option it would b perfect. rply me if u hav some query

motorkr is really good phone .it has evrything in it .good display , fgreat sound and everything . but only thing which hurt me a lot was that i got it for rs 17800, without the bluetooth device and 1 gb , but read it one of the post that aMRITAANSH vERM got it at 13500 , its really sad that in month only the price of this set got reduced from 17800 to 13500..

Rokr E6 is a good phone. Got it for rs 13500,with 2gb card. the preloaded songs are great. the sound quality is pretty nice for a mobile, though it wouldnt have hurt to be a bit louder. The phone has many negative aspects too- Unpolished User interface, Damn slow scrolling thru playlist in real player(filemanager is fast thougn). Motorola has not paid enough attention to the phone part and it is just average and not like a 13k phone. when u have to end a call the backlight of the end button is off so u dont know where to press. Camera produces very dull pics, colors are really faded(my k750 shot 10x better pics) the piece de resistance of this phone is its amazing video playback, i am surprise that the reviewer never made a single mention of it during the review. so if u are a media junkie go for it. but have a go at it once before buying(not on the dummy, on an actual handset). N U WONT GET MANY APPS FOR THIS PHONE AS MOTOROLA ARE PRETTY SECRETIVE ABT THEIR SOURCE CODE(JUST LIKE SONY FOR PSP)

A month back I purchased this ROKR with all accessories at a total cost of Rs.22 K. I face a small problem. Whenver I speak the other party complains that they hear only broken words. I am able to hear clearly but not the other party. This is happening since beginning and not the BSNL problem. Because, in NOKIA set, the same SIM Has no problem. Any suggestion.. solution..

well i got mine from on ebay for 315 but it didn't come with the s9 stereo bluetooth headphones, (they were not loud at all. your better off getting the s805 dj headsets. copped them from ebay for $75 too. Yeau!!) i love my rokr!!! it's not even here in the states yet. I've had it for 2 wks now. It's only suppose to be in the china market!!

Good things always come at a price. Wirefree is always a bit expensive thing and not for everybody but a select few who is ready to shell out for comfort. Think of Maruti 800 and Audi TT. They both can carry one to the same distance but that's not the criteria here. Got my drift? :) I recommend the headset S9. It's a wonderful buy. Will grab one soon as it hits the market and without the handset!

phone may be very good technically but most of the users need smooth operation,good camera and clear sound which sony gives at price below 15k and if you want to spend more than that then there are 3mpx availiable in the market.and if you want to go by statistics this phone is not selling.

thats your opinion man,coz you are not aware of its possibilities..its based on linux os..can be completely customized if you have info..lots of stuff available..those stuff u can never ever evn dream of using nokia or other smart phones..this cell is hackable..u gotto know before commenting..check out motorolafans.com,modmymoto.com etc etc..you will be amazed..it can evn be turned to quadband and edge can also be enabled with just a single script run..come out of nokia and se guys..it really rocks..and dnt comment without proper info..talk to me at kamal17177@yahoo.co.in for any help..thn ks n regards
