Bioware has never let us down. If you thought Mass Effect was a class act, its sequel is even better, tougher and with loads of improvements. Sequels generally have a handful of references to their predecessor, or at best, the story continues from where the first one ends. Mass Effect 2 has scaled new heights by incorporating a seamless continuity if you import your saved games from Mass Effect 1. The actions from your past dictate your experience in the second coming talk of Karma. However, if you haven't played the first part and have jumped directly to this, you won't die wondering what's happening. Bioware takes the liberty of dictating your past decisions.
The first one hour of the game takes you on a roller coaster ride. You would think that there would be a new protagonist as Sheppard is killed in action due to an assault on the Normandy. While on a patrol, the Normandy comes under attack by an unknown assailant ship, causing heavy damage and forcing all crew members to evacuate in escape pods. While the pilot of the ship, Joker, is very firm in saving the Normandy, Shepard orders Joker to get off the ship and puts him in an escape pod. Before he could board the pod himself, there is another attack that causes severe damage to the Normandy blowing it to pieces. But thanks to Cerberus, All izz well, and our protagonist returns to take center stage.
It takes two long years to rebuild our hero. Cut to the present, Shepard is awakened by a warning call when he is in the Cerberus space station, which is under attack by Mechs, and is joined by the hot and sexy Miranda Lawson and Jacob Taylor. Later Shepard is taken to the HQ of Cerberus where he meets the "Illusive man", who convinces him to join him in defeating a new threat to many human colonies. Shepard also gets a new ship that is built on the base of "Normandy SR1" and is called the "Normandy SR2". He now has to recruit a new team to fight against the Collectors. Thus begins your mission to recruit each squad member from different galaxies.
Each character has its strong and weak points, so you better choose your squad members carefully for different missions. The character upgrades are rich and you need to look more deeply into each of your characters' background before advancing. The verbal interactions are very engaging and the voice acting is simply superb. The dialogues are much intense and will have an impact on your character. They also play a vital role on your character's paragon and renegade - the two meters that differentiate the ethical stuff from the unethical, the right from wrong (yes, it's subjective).
