Google Desktop, Facebook and many more have been doing something similar for some time now. But you can't leave Microsoft behind, can you?
Photo Gallery
Now, you know what Google Picasa does. Imagine an application that does almost the same things and a little more but, is made by Microsoft. That's Photo Gallery for you.
Photo Gallery is a complete image viewing, editing, and cataloging solution. But unlike Picasa, it won't intrude on your system by searching and cataloging images on its own. It doesn't always work in the Photo Gallery application's favor though.
You can manually add images to the gallery, tag them or rate them on a scale of 1-5 stars, so images can be sorted using any of the above mentioned parameters. Also, the Photo Gallery application can sort the pictures in a year, month, or date-wise format.
You can import images to the gallery from scanners or cameras and share them on a network as well.
Photo Gallery provides some image-editing features as well. You can adjust exposure and color settings or fix Red Eye in pictures. Just in case you're too lazy to be using sliders and all, click on the Auto Adjust button, and voila, Photo Gallery selects the optimum adjustments for the image on its own!
As far as printing the picture goes, you may either print them on any printer connected to your computer or order prints online. Photo Gallery lets you email pictures (as attachments of various sizes), burn images on disc (data or video), publish on MSN Spaces or Flickr, or make a movie using Windows Movie Maker.
All this sounds and looks really good and I'm sure you already have a list of alternate applications in your heads already. But wait, add what's coming up to the list of features and run a search again.
Photo Gallery allows you to create a single panoramic picture from a series of selected pictures. Of course, the application is intelligent enough to make out the similarities in the images and uses them to create a single one.
Wow! Now that's one heck of an application, ain't it?

I'd almost consider using the stuff if it weren't for all of the flashy banner ads all over the place. Are they trying to give every epileptic seizures or attention deficit disorder? I'll stick with the cleaner less cluttered interface of Google's apps until Microsoft and Yahoo get out of the 90's mentality and learn this.

So you must think that this site still has that mentality as well. ;P All I see are flashing ads every time I visit here...which might I add, is less and less each month.
