New Vista look, Skinning, Online/Offline Sign In, Offline Messaging.
Beta, High Memory Usage, Advertisement Banner.
The Messenger Live! gets its brand spanking new look from Vista which is earning a reputation of delayed releases. It's cool and flaunts a fresh look, a Vista look to be very precise. Expect more visual effects with this messenger working on Vista. The Live! has the most awaited feature "Offline Messaging" a feature that MSN always failed to include in its messenger. This feature lets you stay offline and you can still message online contacts or even drop a word to an offline friend. This is great news for those who extensively use Messenger and had to switch to Yahoo! Now that it's there they can switch over back to MSN. The messenger now provides a color pallet option to change the color according to your windows skin. You can change the color of the window; and it also applies to all your chat windows as well.
The other features remain the same as the recent MSN Messenger 7. The option to sign-in with your wish of status; wherein you can sign-in as offline, online, away, etc. Being able to add personalized messages, this is a space provided just below your nick on the main window. Here, you can write anything that you feel or just leave it blank. This message appears beside your name/nick in the main window and also on the title bar of the chat window. There are contact cards on which you can store more information about your existing contacts apart from their names. This appears when you click on the avatar attached to the contact, which includes even your own contact card. So you can read your own contact details as well. The contact card shows details such as the mobile or home telephone number.

it wouldn't work for me all i got was a blue msn screen ..so had to uninstall it and get my old version back was not impressed at ALL

Could not get Settings to switch to phone wizard from audio. Settings appear to be changed but does not work . By the way the voice quality is excellent.

Dont Download it now, this 1 is Beta version. The Final Windows Live Messgr for MSN will come in the End fo June or July'06. So be thr... ahhahahaha. & it's only for XP.

The conclusion is wrong; Windows Live Messenger will be released within August 2006; the beta version of 8.0.6890 is the final beta version so final version is comin out way ahead of Vista; another benefit of this version is decreased sign-in time; i have dial-up so i noticed da difference

windows live messenger is a great step up from msn 7.5, it is simplier and more professional looking (no more chunky buttons here) also the new Live contacts are very good :-) the latest version does not crash much and will be compatible with yahoo messenger contacts also.
