Sometime back, we put up a round up of the 7600GTs from all manufacturers sans one, MSI. To fill up the rut and to (finally) finish the comparison, we decided to review the MSI 7600GT Diamond. From what we heard about this card, we are expecting major performance and overclocking potential. Let's see if it's true.

Specifications

The Card

Packed in a neat, black box, the MSI bundle looks pretty hefty and so does the card. The card itself has both active and passive cooling systems working at their best to keep the G73 cool. Both the cooling fan and the heat sink are covered by a plastic canopy that, by the way, has a really cool graphic. The plastic canopy looks and feels like some quality stuff too and with the VRAM being covered by the heat sink, we are expecting a good overclocking performance here.

The card is SLI-ready and has a dual-slot design due to the humongous cooling system and does not require extra power.

It sports dual-DVI ports along with an S-Video port. The core is clocked at 560 MHz while the memory runs at 1400 MHz (effective).

The card supports Dynamic Overclocking Performance II, Auto-Overclocking-Wise that smartly overclocks the GPU as and when required in real-time. Another notable feature is VIVO (Video-In/ Video-Out), which means you can also give video input from an external video source to the card.

It features support for Shader Model 3.0, True High Dynamic-Range (HDR) Rendering, Nvidia CineFX 4.0 Engine, PureVideo and UltraShadow II Technology, High-Definition H.264, MPEG-2 and WMV Hardware Acceleration as well as HDCP.

MSI is not selling many Video Cards in India, only because of the fact at they R pricing them too high!, in USA a friend picked up one for US $ 134 with 1 Game bundled.( Rs. 5963 ), we are only required to pay Rs. 12000- EXACTLY DOUBLE The amount.

Great article! Palit's card gives most bang for the buck from the lot. This MSI NX7600GT card just does not seem right... Way overpriced! Sudeep, by the way, in the F.E.A.R. 1024*768 test, BIG 7600GThad 44 fps when anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering were enabled! Is that true or just a typing error?
