Lately, there has been a drift in the computers market - There are many people seeking to buy a laptop instead of a desktop. Most of them are not professionals and they don't demand high computing. Instead, they delve for a good laptop for around 30K. Sometime back, we reviewed an Acer, quickly followed by a Compaq laptop. Both of these were value-laptops, and we stated that the Compaq V3228AU was the best among the 2. Now here's one from Lenovo that claims to be a value-laptop as well - the Y300. The earlier 2 were AMD solutions, while this one's an Intel. So can this Lenovo replace Compaq from its number one VFM position, or will it just be another mere competitor?

No need for veriface. You can use Bananascreen on any laptop/desktop with a camera and its works like a charm. http://goobimama.blogspot.com/

We all know that all actors coming in this or that laptop/desktop ads. are very through with technology ??? Instead I will prefare to buy suggested by EDP guy, who actually understand the technology and not just so called Big Brands.

The fools think people will pay up just because they have roped in the Pataudis for their ad.

by Avinash, del, on Aug 04, 2007 10:00 AM, Report abuse

at 56k price i m getting a TABLET pc with AMD processor 2gb RAM 160GB HDD. and windows vista home premium. and for 66 intel CORE duo TABLET pc. so they seems better deal. my friend has very rough experience with LENOVO NOTEBOOKS. and i will also be away from them. as they cost too much just for the NAME sake.

by Nadeem, pune, on Aug 03, 2007 02:19 PM, Report abuse   Reply

very high price & no extra features.

by rao, hyd, on Aug 03, 2007 11:33 AM, Report abuse   Reply

At 53k-- this laptop does not compete with Compaq V3225AU and Acer 5101ANWLMi --but rather Dell 1520--which configured with Core2Duo processor-Windows Premium-1 GB RAM-and inbuilt webcam etc etc on latest Santarosa platform is costing around 50k. and is a better laptop with inbuilt dedicated 8400M video and real value for money which only Dell seems to deliver. Lenovo has yet to get its act together- by trying to flog a Centrino Duo laptop for 53k- they are trying to befool people

The processor is Core Duo and not Celeron Duo. Lenovo's pricing in India is silly. They are not helping themselves. The only VFM model is N100 with a similar core duo processor. It's available for 38k from Braintone @ Lamington Road.
