How many times have you wondered if it was possible to play videos and music stored on your external hard drive directly on the TV? This could save the annoying transfer to the PC or burning them onto a DVD and then using a DVD player to watch them.
Well, LaCinema by Lacie is here to change that. A nondescript black box hides multimedia capabilities boasting compatibility with many formats as well as up scaling videos to HD. Lacie's external drives have performed well in the past, it's time to take a look at the LaCinema to see if it continues that tradition.

These models should have a built-in LCD for user interface so that audio buffs may get a chance to use it with bookshelf speakers without bothering about a huge TV just to make it work. Chinese models with built-in LCD user interface are already in the European market - hope the big guns like Iomega and Lacie will catch up soon. BTW - kudos to techtree for their nice website redesign.
