Earlier it was a competition to see who had the biggest and then it came to clarity, sharpness, and how well it stood up to its competitors. Now, the game has just gotten better, with almost all LCD battles being fought over design. Manufacturers have managed to come up with something out of the ordinary - be it the diamond studded TV by Philips or the Series 6 by Samsung.
We have with us a sample from the LG Scarlet line of LCD TVs - LG's man-o-war for this fight and this year's "Innovations" award-winner at the CES in Las Vegas. Let's check it out.
LG sent us the LC 32LG60UR, which is the 32-inch Scarlet LCD TV and having seen the ads on every television channel, I couldn't wait to get it out of the box.

50000:1 dynamic contrast ratio-we should probably reflect that the contrast ratios quoted by manufacturers are notoriously unreliable. In any case the price quoted in review is too high- it is easily available on the street for 45-46k. I for one have found the Samsung LA32A650A1- a true 1080p 32 inch LCD to be far superior. as well as the LA32A550P1 a full HD LCD a better deal at street price of 49k.

Forget the technical specifications. When it comes to comparing LCD TVs side-by-side, Sony and Samsung rock... I happen to visit numerous dealers for buy a new HD LCD. I found that the picture in Sony was simply amazing. Samsung was quite close. LG was not anywhere near them. After going through the specifications, I found that LG had a better figures in all the aspects - refresh rate, contrast ratio and all. But still, the images were looking amazing in Sony and Samsung. Its not that I am a being biased toward LG. I have an LG monitor which is awesome. But when it comes to LCD TV technology Sony rocks anytime...

what Neo says is right..any1 buyg an LCD TV shud go and watch it in a showroom with both models side by side and then take a decision. Sony simply rocks.. i spent 10k more for a Sony V series and very single penny is worth it...

wat neo and vcoin says, side-by-side comparision of Samsung and sony is not the right way, u cant compaire apple and oranges side by side, can u ? what i mean the technology wat both use are different, like the sharpness/color control, is different, both may not be using the same settings, let say u reset to 0 on both, but still i cant be same, bcause there is no std on these settings, 0 may not be actually 0 on both the pannels. Moreover the demo clips at the show rooms are made for each of the particular pannels, like sony will play the clip which looks superb on their lcd, but may not look the same on samsung. So u carry some gud clips which u feel thats gud, and play that clip there and see for ur self. get some high action, some real colorful clips etc etc. yes u hv do some experiments on ur own, dont buy wat the showroom guy says...... most of them are not technical...

Why does Techtree insist on quoting the Maximum Retail Price in its reviews- are U in league with the manufacturers. These days only fools buy at MRP. This LG Scarlet 32-inch TV (32LG60UR) is available at 43k in Open Market in Delhi & at this price of around 43k is a good deal. At MRP it is dacoity by LG.

The author of this review is definetely a nontechnical person because even a dumb guy would discuss the USB feature which no other brand offers. With USB u can watch pictures and movies stored in your pen drive or hard disk. This is a really very important and winning deature, not sure why the author did not consider mentioning it....

There is no point buying full hd tv's below 45inches.its just a company gimmick to earn extra bucks.. and for 42inches i would rather buy a plasma cos they have bcome real cheap and is a better than lcd(wont go in the tech dept).

I always tot that LG Scarlet 32 Inches is not 50000 : 1. i was told that only 37 and 42 inches have 50000:1 ratios. Also i was told that very high contrast ratios are not able to deliver the proper picture formats.

I have a Philips 42PF9831 LCD TV and have yet to find a TV that gives the same color saturation, contrast and brightness. Its specs may not look that good on paper but its picture quality and sound quality has to be seen to believe. I have to buy a second Tv and was considering Bang and Olufsen Beovision 8. That was the only budget TV that came close to this one. I hope LG has a good model. I will go and check it out today
