The Kingston DataTraveler Mini Fun is a tiny thumb drive. Let's see how much fun is it to have it...

Small, Ultra light, Average performance, Reminds you of legos

Compatible with only Win 2000 onwards, Prone to getting misplaced.

The Kingston DataTraveler Mini Fun is a fun-looking thumb drive to start off with. The drive, even though called a thumb drive, is less than half the size of an adult thumb; possibly we could refer it to a thumb of an infant. The first thing, the drive reminded me was of Legos/Blocks we used to play with, to build anything we like e.g. guns in our childhood. The drive comes just all by itself and a keychain strap to attach the drive to your keychain.

A pretty plain and simple package nothing much to talk about; so we'll get on with the review.

Specs

The Kingston DataTraveler Mini Fun is a really small thumb drive just as I said earlier. The drive dimensions 1.5 x 0.75 x 0.31 inches make it absolutely portable. The weight of the drive is just not needed to be known; it's like feather weight that's all I'll tell you. The drive is available in different colors depending on the capacity. The capacities available are 256 MB, 512 MB, and 1 GB. The drive is not just called Mini Fun for any reason; it is bundled with two games from BigFish Studios. For the record, the games bundled are Atlantis and Magic Vines. The drive is plug-n-play and doesn't require any drivers to be installed when used with any OS after Windows 2000 or Mac OS 10.x.

The bundle didn't have any driver CD bundled along; so it won't be possible to use the drive with Win98/Me/NT. The drive, being small in size, will always have this problem to share; being misplaced is almost inevitable. To add to the problems the drive has a cap, which is outrageously prone to being misplaced. Not that we lost the drive or its cap in the span of time that we had it for testing, but we were always searching for it. The drive is small and is meant to hang on to your keychain, but if loosing keys is your thing then you might as well hang it around your neck.

LOST THE CAP !?!? I'm sorry, maybe I'm missing something here... ? THE WHOLE IDEA OF THE DESIGN IS THAT YOU SNAP THE CAP O-N-T-O THE UNIT WHEN USING THE USB CONNECTOR , isn't it !? !? >>> HOW CAN YOU THEN HAVE PROBLEMS MISPLACING IT !? Really, that sounds to me like you would have to have the cap locked onto a chain *rolleyes* . . . For a little gem that size, considering production cost, it certainly looks reasonable to me. And cute :)

I would like to tell all those persons who have lost the cap of this thumb-drive or are most likely to.. someday or the other ;that this thumb-drive reminds you of Lego toys due to some reason. The cap can fitted to the back side of the drive while cnnectng it to the USB port.... it also helps you to pull it out of the port easily. So, instead of just loosing your cap fix it at the back-end of the drive while using it.

The cap is meant to plug into the back so it won't get lost. Why do some people defeat a great design by tossing the cap aside and then whining that it's easy to lose?

looks worst and cheap..take a look at that average yellow plastic.. and compare it with sleekness of Transcend and Kingston as well which obviously have different class

Ha,I've lost the cap on the 1st day itself. My office-maid simply threw it into trash over night while the drive is connected to my PC. Anybody who buys it- my advice is -be xtra careful with the cap specifically.

Haan Haan AJ from Chandigarh Dus saal rukiyo 40GB Flash Drive mein aane ke liye! Spoke like a Chadighadian. Aur yeh Shivprakash Jodhpurwaale Sample ki baat karta hai Khud "Sample". Well anyay I've use Kingston Memory in my Laptops and it works pretty well, Infact Toshiba's OEM is Kingston for memory but, when it comes to the one above what difference does packaging it as something new make? Why not pack it as a Dildo and then it can download/txfer/share some Orgasms! :D As it is it's slow 2cum like the Ladies. :D

Shivprakash would be sent the one rupee pictured alongside for the hugga joke of the day... and if he likes it, we'll ban his ip address forever!

Hi, Device is welcome-- Kingston-- insead of beautification, Add should read more about the electronic poarameters like retentivity, data transportability-- perhaps days have come that manufacturer should invent a method of automatic identification of OS and try to force load a driver, ofcourse with the permission of the machine. You may not read data from 1Gb but it coul be possible to install a driver. this would aviod miniCD which anyway you have not given.

ye multinational ch**tiya banana mast jaante hain! Ek hi chip ko alag alag plastic moulding karke bechna koi inse seekhe. anyways, dikhne mein sahi hai par performance poor hai... thumbs down.
