We used HD Tach to test the low-level performance, which would give us a clear-cut picture of the core ability of the drive. To test the file system and desktop performance, we used SiSoft Sandra's File System Benchmarking module.
Now that 1 TB drives are down to US $260, and fast falling daily-then pricing of 18.5k is predatory.
