HTC Touch Dual PDA Phone

HTC Touch Dual PDA Phone

The Touch Dual's got innovation inbuilt... but is the price too much to ask?

Sleek design, slide-out keypad, TouchFLO interface, 3.5G (HSDPA) ready

No Wi-Fi, expensive, somewhat sluggish interface

Design and Construction

At first glance, one can see a significant resemblance in the overall design of the Touch Dual and the original Touch. They share the same soft velvety black casing, which gives you a firm grip and feel. The curved edges make the phone comfortable to hold, and give it a distinct look.

The HTC Touch and the Touch Dual, side-by-side

This model was probably named "Touch Dual" because of the duality when it comes to user input. Other than the Touch interface, a 16-key num-pad is revealed by a gentle sliding mechanism.

The physical difference is more obvious here

The buttons are sufficiently large and easy to use. The five-way navigation pad and the rest of the buttons are fine. The volume control and the power buttons, though, are a bit too hard, I think.

The Touch Dual maintains the compactness of the earlier model. The thickness after adding the sliding mechanism increases by just 2 mm.

The mini-USB port is oddly placed to the side on the Touch Dual; the Touch had it placed the regular way (at the bottom)

Otherwise, it's dimensionally similar, and weighs a nice 120 grams. It's pretty comfortable to carry in the pocket of your pants.

I have the HTC Touch (2 months). Sluggish performance, too expensive, lots of problems with Active Sync, poor camera quality, but size is decent.
