HTC Touch 3G [Review]

HTC Touch 3G [Review]

Powerful but expensive

Smooth, good touch responsiveness, build & design, battery, GPS, Wi-Fi.

No video call camera, low speaker volume, expensive.

HTC released two phones at the end of 2008, the Touch Viva and the Touch 3G. We are reviewing the HTC Touch 3G for you. The new improved successor is meant to provide a refined internet experience on a mobile device. Let's see if the Touch 3G has what it takes to carry on the success story of the original Touch.

Bundle

HTC Touch 3G

Stereo Headset

USB Cable

Charger

CD & Manual

A measly package for a phone of its stature; with no memory card bundled, the package needs attention.

What you will do with a phone having 3.2 or more MPixel camera but with only 65000 colors? HTC phones are useless till they have limited colors. I am not a NOKIA lover, but appriciates NOKIA that their decent phones have minimum 16M colors.

If you want a no nonsense with all the requirements including touch screen, 3.2mp camera, windows, blakberry connection, media player, extra memory, good battery, then there is always the old war horse SE P1i @ much low rate.

So, does the reviewer mean that for the time being buy a 16K phone and by the time the 3G Spectrum Allocation is complete (may be in another 6 to 8 months), one can always buy that 26K phone...!!! Lol!!!

I had earlier Palm OS based Qool QDA 700 which lacked a lot of technological features than todays new phones. At present I own Nokia E71. Going by the usage I have found that Palm OS based phones are better user friendly than Symbian OS based. Windows OS based phones I found to be more prone to virus attacks. I know a lot of users might differ from my point, but I would definately love Techtree to do a review on Palm OS or a comparison among these OS.

A slight correction. The Touch Flo on the HTC Touch Viva is Touch Flo 2D and not a 3D one as mentioned. Hence there are no special graphics on the Touch Viva compared to the Touch 3G/Diamond. Also the Touch Diamond is a better option than the Touch 3G since the Diamond comes with a higher resolution screen + accelerometer and it is priced at Rs. 27000. I believe Universal and other such vendors sell it for 24000. Overall unless u are really impressed by the minimalistic looks of the Touch 3G, I see no reason why this phone should be preferred over the Diamond.
