Jayesh Limaye Email Print
May 13, 2008
Supports 45 nm Intel processors and PCIe 2.0, Excellent overclocking support, Power saving DES2, Good components, CrossFireX multi-GPU support, Silent, eSATA/SATA brackets.
Not significantly faster than P35-based motherboards, certain components come in the way of others, no additional brackets for additional ports.

Ever since the Intel X38 Express chipset was introduced around six months ago, a host of manufacturers have come forward with motherboards based on this "high-end" chipset; since this chipset comes with brand new features and supports the latest 45 nm processors and multi-GPUs. Each manufacturer tries to add his own touch; some provide a handsome bundle of games, and some provide so many cables that the motherboard gets lost in them.

Gigabyte does bundle what is necessary, but the main difference that sets it apart from the flock is that it is going green. The motherboard boasts of special power-saving features and the bundled software provides a front-end to monitor this. Meaning, you are virtually guaranteed that this "high-end motherboard" certainly doesn't mean that you end up paying high electricity bills. The Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS4 is one such motherboard that we shall test today.

Bundle

IDE cable
Floppy cable
4 SATA cables
1 eSATA bracket
4-Pin Molex to 2x SATA power adapter cable
I/O Plate
Manual
Quick Installation Guide
Driver DVD

We could say that the bundle is pretty much complete. Although some extra brackets for USB and FireWire wouldn't have hurt, especially since this motherboard is not entry-level by any means, and neither is it priced that way.

gigabit cannot beat MSI or Asus any how b'coz gigabyte mobos have after run DMA problems and hardware interface performance optimization problems inherently it suks some of the times those using gigabyte mobos for long time u ask them they wont be getting the consistent performance out of it, and reliablity too is also mordrate.....
