Intel has taken away the performance crown from AMD with the Core 2 processors. These processors have a significant performance leap over the Pentium 4 and it only gets better from here. Initially released as dual core processors, they are now available in quad core form as well, doubling the performance in selected application highly optimized for multi-core processors. These processors are currently the best buy in mid-high end systems. But, even the best processor won't perform up to its peak, without a solid platform. This is where Gigabyte comes in with the 965P-DQ6.

sorry friends! I guess the best part about this motherboard is the solid state caps worst part is the fact that the 2nd graphics card can only be a 4X??? Overall the best motherboard i have reviwed as far as single graphics card based mobos are concerned! Hey when did ASUS took over Gigabyte?

Dude did you hit Ctrl+F1? Then the Advanced chipset features page pops up. Thats where memory timings will be.
Chaos | Bangalore | 30/01/07 10:03 AM | Report abuse Reply
Yes, I did try. Nuthin comes up. After a small Research on net, it was confirmed that one can't change timings.

Not having RAM timings in the bios of an enthusiast board is like trying to compete in Tour de France with a hero cycle :P.

First, can the English be correct - this looks like it's been written by someone in class 3 of a non-English school. If you're writing reviews in English, at least write correct English. "this motherboard is also loaded lots of feature" - where is the of? Gone off? And feature should be plural. And that's just one bloody sentence. Who told you this - "The main selling point of this motherboard is the All-Solid State Capacitor which claim to have higher accuracy, reliability and durability" - Gigabyte India Marketing Manager? This is like saying "This car has tyres which are tubeless, and therefore it can go faster". Solid caps are an evolution, not a revolution. They are NOT responsible for better overclocking stability, any more than tubeless tyres make a car go faster. First find out what a capacitor does. Overclocking is due to - surprise, surprise, guess you didn't know this - better clocks! Simple. Better board layout, less signal noise, and good cooling mean less jitter. Solid caps have better durability, and good electrolytics will beat them on signal stability and size to capacitance ratio. Please read rather than mouthing the words of the manufacturer. Half-assed reviews are the reason I stopped reading TT. What IS this s**t "This motherboard is one of the most stable motherboard I have used till date, and even with extreme over clocking, it exhibited high endurance" Endurance? Come on man, couldn't you find a better word? Could you provide some figures? Can you really get your head out of your ass and read some international review sites, and at least copy them for some time till you get the hang of it? Jeez... Memory timings are more important to overclocking, and a better indication of board ability (and stability) than clock speed. A board that does not allow mem timing adjustment is like a great Nike shoe without a sole. Or should that be soul? Maybe both? I just don't give a damn anymore!

You CAN change memory timings. You need to enable the advanced options in the BIOS.

Why is every one whining so much about TT not reviewing something else? Is is because its Indian site? Aren't there "other" good sites, to see if, u want a better reviews?

Wat a bunch of srrry-A$$ cynical losers r u guys...specially u mister Nanital- Matheran- or Shimla watever....here u have a high end product that has been brought to the notice of us readers...agreed that many wont buy this, but how many of u losers will buy the 8800GTX's or other such products costing 25-30k, not many...... information abt latest technologies is a good read, price is a secondary concern, u dnt stop starring at a Ferrari just becos u drive a maruti do you ....well dun Mr. Punit......keep writing more of these...and forget abt these losers.....

Techtree seems to be intent on reviewing high end stuff like this Gigabyte 965P-DQ6 which is meaningless to 99.9 percent of us, perhaps Gigabyte sells a few hundreds of these super high end & super costly boards & guys who go in for this type of boards DO NOT READ THE REVIEWS in TT. In any case this board while good is not the best 965 Board, according to Anandtech the most respected US comp hardware reviewer, the best is Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3. A very mature board in which the best Bios for any 965 Board is incorporated & of course this Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 board is Rs. 5000 cheaper than this fancy premium board. Also GA-965P-DS3 has all solid-state capacitors. TT will do well to review mainstream Boards likes of GIGABYTE K8N51GMF-9 ASUS A8N VM CSM in socket 939, ASUS M2N-MXMSI K9NGM2 Socket AM2, INTEL D946GSIL MSI P965 Neo-F ASUS P5LD2-VM SE ASUS P5B-VM socket in 775. These R the boards which average TT reader is interested in.

very true vijayshimla...tt should also review the cheaper and more mainstream boards...personally i have a a8n-vm csm and would like to see its review and if tt has more success in o'cing it :P ...but once in a while such reviews make for good reading..

I agree too...Just think about it, most people buy entire systems that cost around 20k and here Techtree is reviewing a motherboard which itself costs 14k. Wake up and smell the coffee guys...less elaborate and more relevant reviews are the need of the day.

My Intel D101ggc mobo overclocks very well. I am using P4 2.66GHz. I have overclocked with clockgen in windows environment because there r no clock frequency option in bios. I have overclocked to 3.2GHz Stable. U can download this software from http://www.cpuid.com/ U just need to know ur PLL number of mobo. for eg. D101ggc PLL number is ICS 954123. If ur mobo doesnt have options in bios, then u can try this.
