I've done web designing before and know the pains and the hassles that come with it. Designing everything by hand from code to images is not an easy task and neither is setting up good a Content Management Systems such as WordPress.
Sure web-savvy people know there is no better way but what about those users who require simple website creation without the need to pay a bomb to a web designer? This is when a copy of Mr Site landed on my desk, I was sceptical and part curious about just how easy could something I've sweated over for hours be made "Simple".

The idea is simple enough, you get a box (or through email depending on your buying option) with a printed manual, a Mr Site activation card with unique password and a CD. I instantly assumed there must be several templates on the CD, but all that the CD contained was an electronic PDF version of the manual, Adobe Reader and Firefox Browser.
Everything else concerning the website is online only, from templates to customizations to actually publishing your website, it's all online. Therefore this means you'd better have a decent broadband connection to get through the process, though as listed on the box, a dial-up can get the job done though painfully slow.
The Logistics

Using the activation card, I needed to log in to their website stated clearly on the activation card in my case the co.uk version and not the Indian co.in version. The only difference being that the Indian version doesn't have all the 3 packages of Mr Site offered in the UK version.
On purchasing the service which retails at Rs.2,999, you get 150 MB of web space, 20 email addresses and a year's worth of hosting. After the first year, the service costs Rs. 250 a month. This of course is not the whole deal, a full feature list can be found here which includes a simple but functional shopping linked with Paypal, indeed a nice touch.

Now let's stop here, let's do a little math. Rs. 3000 divided by 12 months = Rs.250 a month. Now let's compare with an Indian hosting provider ITQuery who offer seems to offer more than Mr Site. The Linux plan they offer with ready Wordpress, php, joomla, etc (Plan B) for a year costs Rs.2100 (inclusive of .com registration). You get, 2GB of web space and 5 email ads with max 500MB space limit. This turns out to be Rs.175 a month.
Even a cheaper but a far less customizable option, use Google's Blogger service which is free with GB's of space. Then buy a .com domain for as little as Rs.400 and link it with the blogger service. That's Rs.33.33/month. You get the world's best servers with Google but are severely limited to Blogger.com's themes and look. Also you need to be savvy enough to know how to book a .com and then link it to Blogger.com, not something everyone can handle.
From this preliminary analysis of the first two options, Mr Site certainly doesn't make any good sense as it offers a lot less, but here is what hasn't been considered.
1. The Indian Host in this case ITQuery doesn't at all come close to the simplicity of Mr Site even by a long shot.
2. Not everyone needs oodles of space and will happily trade that extra space for help in creating a website.
3. Cost of creating a website is much more than what Mr Site has to offer.
4. People like to have options and variety too; Mr Site gives you both.
5. If you have the entire content ready before hand, you can literally create a website in minutes.
In Short - Target users of Mr Site aren't web designers or even those who know a bit of HTML. It's for computer savvy users who know they need a website but don't want to pay a high fee to do it either. Mr Site obviously tries to fit into the shoes of those in-between and does quite an admirable job. Therefore the service is perfect for home users and small business establishments who want their own website.
