For years Epson has been one of the top brands in the printer market. A company known for its great print quality, high-quality color reproduction and cost effective cartridges, Epson has been a DTP favorite since quite a while.
The Stylus Photo 900 goes beyond just regular photo printing capabilities and comes out with an innovative way to decorate your CD collection. With this one, you don't have to print on messy stickers to apply on your precious CDs; instead you can print directly on the CDs. But more on that later, let's see what's inside the box first.
The Package
The box comes packed with the printer, two cartridges - one five color cartridge and one for black ink, a special tray for printing on CDs, a parallel port cable (though the printer supports USB connectivity too), a power supply cable, manual and documentation, and lastly a driver CD.
The printer looks nothing short of elite with its sleek grey body. It's a standard top-loading printer that can work with standard sheets of paper or even roll paper, and prints at a maximum resolution of 5,760 x 720 dpi.
Performance
We ran our standard tests at the highest print quality settings, unless specified. The tests include the following:
Font Test: The font test consists of printing a document containing various fonts starting from point size 24 going all the way down to point size 1.
Result: The last line was clearly visible in both Times New Roman as well as Ariel fonts. Shows that the printer won't miss out on minute details in complex printouts.
Black and White Resolution Test: We printed an EIA Resolution chart (1956), containing high-contrast vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines as well as curves of various sizes.
Result: There was no dithering, or grainy effect in the print-out. The grey was perfect with no bluish tinge that can be found in most printers.
Time Taken: 7 minutes 48 seconds
Color Test: We printed a sheet with gradients of RGB and CMYK bands, which start from the darkest shade to the lightest, eventually fading to white.
Result: The Stylus Photo 900 performed very well here with pure color quality and absolutely no banding. The black ink quality in Epson was excellent and surely one of the best we've seen.

water will remove the ink we do CD printing and coat the printed CDs with water proof coating write back if you need to get printing done

The printer nodoubt seems to be of high- quality, but since its prise is high its user will be very rare beacause in India prise of the produst is a matter as well as refill catridge is also a matter. this catriges are too costly to use just for printing photos of family.in practicle it is unaffordable and useless to purchase such a printer.

i think the guys @ Epson are really whacko, if they think that Home users in India will be prepared to spend 12k on a Printer ... jus plain nonsensical .... not gonna work in india cause its clearly evident dat this device is not fast enough for professional Use .....
