Bright, sharp, built-in WiFi, full function remote with presentation and mouse control, doesn't heat up too much, low fan noise, very portable, good carry bag
The BenQ PB2250 we reviewed some time ago was compact enough, but there's always something out there that does the same thing better. Epson's EMP-765 is even smaller at just 19.3 cm by 27.6 cm and 7cm high. This thing is also lighter at only 1.8 kgs. It comes with a very handy carry bag that houses the projector and all the included cables and accessories very neatly. This is simply the most conveniently portable projector we've reviewed!
The EMP-765 is an LCD projector, unlike the other BenQ projectors we reviewed recently that use the DLP technology. These LCD projectors have three distinct LCD screens inside (red, green and blue), hence the "3LCD" tag. Individual pixels on these panels are opened or closed to let the light pass or to block it, which produces the projected image through the lens by modulating the light. LCD projectors are generally brighter and have better color saturation when compared to DLP projectors and the image is also comparatively sharper. The enhanced sharpness is great for presentations and other business-related projection requirements, but if you plan to watch a lot of XviD movies, the pixellation can be a bit more bothersome than in a DLP.
The EMP-765 offers a native XGA resolution (1024x768) and is extremely bright at 2,500 ANSI lumens and a 400:1 contrast ratio. Even after being so bright, the projector has very efficient cooling and doesn't let the unit get very hot. And in spite of not being so hot, the fan doesn't sound like an aeroplane propeller. It remains quietly in its place and lets you carry out your presentations in silence or watch those intense moments in mystery movies without a constant whirring noise to spoil it.
Adjusting the height of the EMP-765 is a very easy process thanks to the single retractable foot at the front of the projector. There are no uncomfortable screw feet to twist around - all you have to do is lift the projector and click the release button. Even keystone correction is easier, as it is automatic.
The projector offers a throw distance between 1.2 to 12 meters for a regular 4:3 aspect projection and upto 10 meters for a wide aspect projection, which purportedly gives you a 300-inch projected image. We didn't get 300-inch wall to test the projector on, but we got 60 inches and the picture was extremely sharp and bright.

Also, what is your take on refurbished projectors for home use? I'll be using the projector purely for watching movies at home. Please advise.
