The Creative Zen V Plus that is said to be an IPod Nano's competition
Amazing sound quality, excellent build quality of earphones, very customizable, user-friendly and a great software package.
Expensive for its capacity, file-transfer is similar to the IPod.
Creative has been trying to get the upper hand on Apple ever since the IPod took over the market, but have not exactly looked like the formidable opponent they think they are. Here's another creation, the Creative Zen V Plus that is said to be an IPod Nano's competition (they're still trying I guess.)
Let's see if it lives up to the hype by taking a look at what it has to offer.

Everybody seems to have a problem with the Creative Zen V Plus 1GB model. I surfed the Internet and visited numerous forums, and e'one's Zen V Plus is getting stuck at all the times. It's really frustrating though, as the player is quite a beautiful one. I had contacted Creative's Support team and we communicated through several e-mails. They seem to agree that it is a manufacturing defect. They didn't as much say so, but they did say that there's a device problem. They asked me to send the details like : receipt, etc. But that's where i got stuck, as my cuz got this as a gift to me from Hong Kong and he lost the bill receipt!!

Yes, I think the Micro is not available in India nowadays...try the Zen Stone (Rs.3999/- on eBay) or Stone Plus (not yet seen on eBay or market).

amazing!this thing seems to b awesome..the features are anyday btr than the ipod...i mean the ipods become a status symbol now..i must say tht its a pretty useless piece...mainly bcoz it doesn't have a simple feature like FM...but the zens pretty pricey...wonder if i can get a 4 gb for 9 grand or sumthing....anyone out here has ny details???

Creative mp3 players are mostly plug and play and also you cna download mp3 songs, jpgs by just "Copy Paste feature"..no need of the headache of i-tunes software like ipods..without i-tunes a ipod is a dead piece of metal.. Buy one ipod and you will know wht im talking abt,

anchita, your mad.........ipod will never be good with those worthless earphones they offer with it.....unless they tie up with some big audio company like the way iRiver has done with Seinnheisser, they'll get nowhere....if u think ipod is better.....u dont know what good sound quality is.....your just looking at the GBs it provides thats all....which is stupid.....ipod is just a storage device which has the facility to play music, and its not its best function...

Actually I do not know why Creative would like to flog their 1 GB model in India for Rs. 7500, in US nobody is interested in 1 GB which sells for US 80, or 2 GB which can be had fior US $ 100. most ppl buy 4 GB for $ 150 & 8 GB for $ 200. But of course Creative has very little market in US - it is Apple Nano & Sandisk Sansa E-260 4 GB for US $ 110 which command the market. Creative is just OVER PRICED itself out of India Market.

Well, I guess that's a never-ending debate and you'll probably never hear the end of it.... Of course the price has to be higher in India.... But lately, the trend has been shifting towards the opposite.... Let's hope for the best and have a little patience! :) And for those who were asking about the price.... You can get the 1GB version at a street price of about 6800.... it's expensive, but damn this player's good!! Sleek body, awesome sound (although I highly recommend that you get yourself a set of Creative Aurvana in-ear headphones for THE BEST POSSIBLE output - strictly for audiophiles).

I have been using the Zen V Plus (4GB version) from last November when I had gone to the US for a visit. As far as my satisfaction is concerned.. it's right up there with the best of them. For something that small having 4 GB memory space with FM..picture viewing..customization...even video options..well..At first I was surprised for it was quite a load for something that small..anyway thats what i thought at first. But then some of these features like viewing video clips have their limitations on the player. From November to May..only once did i have a problem with the player...It was when the screen went blank and nothing was displayed after i kept it for charging. If that situation does arise for any of you out there...there is a small reset button on the side...its hardly noticeable as its really small...and so press the hole with a pin. If all goes well the player will come back to life. I might be one of the first few user's for the zen's v plus player here in India..who have used this product for quite some time. Based on my usage of over 6 months I rate it at a 9.5/10 for overall customer satisfaction...well done...creative..

One thing I've noticed over the last year or so is... vijayshimla..."supposedly" based in Shimla comes with a lot of Pro American rates vis a vis India> Just a note to vijayshimla....if you are based in the in the US, either use a US address so that you atleast sound plausible, if not, continue with your present id, but stop basing your comments after "checking" US prices...

Why i there a price difference in India and US.Is it because of taxes or is it that international companies are pricing the same products with different rates. Usually the prices in india are higher. Is it because they are sending high quality products to india.

hey anupe., yea..i agree with you on this one..he has been making comments on the other reviews as well comparing them to the US prices all the time. this guy is a nut and doesnt seem to understand the high duty rates that are levied in India along with a 12.5% VAT. Yes, the products in India are expensive..this guy probably checks the prices on amazon or a few more online sites and makes up his own remarks. Secondly, MP3 players are not a neccessity, its a luxury gadget (like a LCD or a plasma) consumers should pay higher taxes on such products. the pen drive prices crashed over the year apparently cause the duties became nil. now they have become a need based item. However like all electronic goods price always comes down after a while.

The Zen V plus is quite cute and very user friendly. Had got one for my wife from HKG in Dec and a 1 GB one cost mearly Rs.4300/-. I couldn't help but compare it to the 2GB IPod of last year which cost approx Rs.11k. By way of functionality it has far more features than a 2nd Gen IPod. An IPod looks neater though.

I always wonder as why Bluetooth and FM (in some models) are not included :( Having bluetooth support would let us hear music and accept phone calls , all without shifting through one set of earphones to another. It would also mean copying files to and fro easier (i know it would be way too slow for largescale copying) but sharing between friends would be easy I suspect the music companies dont want us SHARING so they have banned the creaters from including bluetooth on all the Music Players :(

the biggest disadvantage of the ipods are that they dont have fm. u need to buy the itrip for it seperately which costs enough to equalise the price gap that players from Creative, iAudio etc have..ipod is nothing but a fixation and meant for ppl who dont understand too much about the pros and cons of technology..the other brands seem to offer many more features..TT, why dont you carry out a comparison between the ipod and othr popular mp3 brands which are available.? this would infact open ppl's eyes to see that they are getting so little for the money they are paying!

Dan, Make sure of facts before you write anything. All Creative Zen players can be accessed and updated from Windows explorer if you have WMP 10 installed. Secondly Zen V Plus has FM radio functionality which I think you never looked up :)

Wolfy, only transferring to the player works using the windows explorer.......u can't copy stuff from the player easily unless uve installed the utility from the cd or u have the Zen Media Explorer already..... besides wmp 10 is not necessarily installed on every system......u and i may have it.....this for the general population. Don't think that this is only written for people like u and me. besides they have mentioned the fm functionality at the end of the 2nd page........u better get ur facts right! :P

Honestly, Creative is a company with fantabulous products. They should in fact price it even with iPod as Indian market sees value for money over brand image. At least the mass do. FM is an important part of this generation youngsters. For some reason Apple sees no reason in including it in their range. Creative has just the right product and just the wrong pricing.
