You probably know that you can watch TV on your PC by installing a TV tuner card. ChrisTV PVR Professional is a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) -- a software that lets you not only view TV programs on your PC, but also record them for later viewing. The software lets you unleash the true potential of your TV tuner, and gives you complete control over it. Although it mentions a list of supported TV tuners that are known to work with the software, we found that it works with others that are not on the list as well; if your TV tuner has WDM drivers, it is bound to work with ChrisTV.
Installation
Installation can be done in a jiffy. Just after the installation, the configuration utility launches and automatically detects and configures the TV tuner. In case it fails to identify the capture device (TV tuner), it has an option for advanced configuration that lets you choose from a list. You then configure the sound device and the capture folders.
At the end of the configuration, you are prompted to enter the TV region settings to scan for available channels. Here, you have the option to either scan according to frequency or according to the preset channel positions. The latter is a lot faster, while the former is a lot more accurate.
After the scanning is done, you are presented with a list of detected channels in the Channel Settings window. Here, you can modify the names of the channels as well as fine-tune the frequency for better picture quality. You can adjust settings such as brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, and even volume for individual channels. ChrisTV is now ready to be launched.
On our test system, ChrisTV was able to detect all 95 available cable TV channels, including even the faintest ones.

Always crashes on my system - dont know if others have the same issues. Most unstable s/w ever come across..

My Compro has automatic Power-Up function which is very important because I dont want to keep my PC on when I am not at home for my favorite TV show to get recorded. Can I schedule for power-up function on Chris TV?

Ya...chris Tv is best PVR software I come across, but pricing is bit high. I got a TV tuner card for 850 bucks & software to run it will cost 3000 bucks!!!

just use fricking windows media player... much easier to use, more functionality, easily record using scheduling and epg....etc etc.. and plus it looks much better and comes bundled with vista and some xp versions!!!
