Bought a Canon A590IS last year. The batteries rechargable alkaline last no time at all and have to be re-charged only after a few shots have taken, mostly in daylight.

An excellent and thoroughly satisfying camera for its price tag. Overall, best camera as it also provdes manual adjustments for average photography. For wannabe newbie photography enthusiasts, you may want tripod and some other stuff. I'll recommended this one for usage for quite some time.

This camera is definitely not a step up over the old A570IS. The 570IS had manual focus and high speed video, both of which have for some reason been removed from this camera. A definite downgrade from the 570IS, this is.

True that the high speed video feature isn't in there, the manual focus is still there.

This camers has manual focus.Just select progfram,tv,or av mode and then select focus "macro" button .you will see three typoes of fucuses,manual,normal(auto) and macro.

yesterday only i buyed canon a590is digital camera. it is very good in picture quality but i dont understand y the life of battery is too bad. and how to get video somgs from, tv can it is possible. but it is very good overall. umesh

Can any post the images with barrel distortion for 590IS, the images posted here don't have it, I am owning one for my wife and there is no noticeable barrel distortion in images. may techtree received a defective camera.
