Specifications

Band: GSM 900/ 1800/ 1900 MHz

Dimension: 109mm x 59mm x 19mm

Weight: 145 grams

Operating System: Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0

Processor: Intel XScale 520 MHz

Battery: 1300 mAh

Design

Asus P535 looks like an elegant rectangular metal-block. Available in two colors - white and silver, the phone has a large 65K 2.8-inch screen that supports resolution up to 320 x 240 pixels.

There is a 5-way D-pad below the screen, and menu keys are placed on its either side. The calling buttons are large and easy to access. Just above the screen towards the left side, there is a small LED which blinks green most of the time. In case of a missed call, SMS, or Wi-Fi disconnection, it blinks red. While when Bluetooth or WLAN is connected, it blinks blue.

The phone has a standard set of buttons on the sides, except for one.

On the left side of the phone are the Volume Control and the Camera hotkey. There is also a Reset fissure which requires a pin for access, just one hit and the phone will go back to defaults.

The right side has the Voice Recording button and a hold switch. The Hold switch is something similar to what we see in MP3 players. This is the default way to lock the phone. This neat option makes it easy to lock the keypad, instead of a couple of taps on the touch screen.

At the top of the phone is the power button; the space is also shared with a miniSD memory card slot that doesn't have a dust cover (it comes with a dummy card in the slot).

The bottom of the phone consists of 3 ports - a stereo jack, a miniUSB, and a Mic. The miniUSB port also doubles as a charging port.

The back of the phone has a 2.0 MP camera and the phone speaker. Also, there is a neatly covered GPS port in the corner. The remaining space in the back is used up by the phone's battery.

How can you guys compare the Sony Ericsson P990i to this phone ??? The P990i is a Symbian OS phone while this is a Windows Mobile 6.0 phone which makes it more expensive. Plus this phone has an Intel 520 Mhz processor while the Sony Ericcson has a slow 203 Mhz processor. Not to mention this phone has got GPS !

Exactly .. i dont know why people are bragging so much about it. The O2 Atom Exec sells for 35k which i dont think has GPS .. although it was listed for 20k in Times of India offer

I agreed with you. How can we compare PDA with a symbian phone? We shall compared P535 with others such as HTC or O2. I personally think it is a very worth phone.

this doesnt stand a chance against da other phones it is competin wit.... ther' s nuin new in this fone...simply nothin... except for da GPS which i dont c comin in india in da nxt 5 yrs.. (full fledged)..ppl wud rather go for an atom or a 990i considerin 990i is da only fone in world in which all 3 kinds of inputs can be used.... abt p1... its jus a hardware upgrade of da 990i...

My good old mate nokia 6630 is far better in terms of connectivity not wrt pda functionalities. it has edge and 3G and i am getting 10-12KBPS(not kbps) during a download with airtel gprs connection which is Edge enabled. If you are only going for connectivity option this is not the right fone for you.

Even the new Smart Phone Pi1 from SE sells for 24k....including the features missing in this phone...32k is an insane amt for this phone..even htc touch i guess ain't that expensive

by saty, mumbai, on Aug 01, 2007 03:52 PM, Report abuse   Reply

expi. the SE 990i is avaliable for less than 20k. It has all these and more features. There was a prob of hanging though, i not sure if that is manageable with a firmware upgrade.
