The Asus P527
I reviewed the Asus M530W smartphone (here) about a month ago. It was a decently-priced BlackBerry-esque phone; today I'm testing its cousin, the P527. The two models are similar in functionality, with the major difference being that while the M530W has a QWERTY keyboard, the P527 supports touchscreen input. Another key feature of the P527 is GPS support. Here's a detailed look at what the phone has on offer and whether you might want it.

I bought it after considering between P1i, N95, HTC, etc.. etc.. This is the best so far. I paid Rs.16000 at Alfa Andheri. No doubt this makes a laptop look Jurassic. The most useful feature for me is the business card recoginition tool. which the makers have not advertised visibly. You can create word and excel documents. You can store and view Power point, though not edit *.ppt but it has a useful remote presenter tool.

Hey i bought this phone last week & its seems pretty nice. AS said by Ameya, in my phone the GPS really works & it showed my Location. But you will need to update the satelite position through the preinstalled software GPS catcher every 3 days, so you need eithr GPRS or conect through PC connected with interenet. I found the only constrainst in future would be memory having justr 128/64. I have only one problem is of the ear piece sound whuch is lilttle echo

This is a good device. I have the following observations: 1) It is difficult device to get used to if you have so far used Nokia. 2) Some packages like mine did not come with SD card. 3) Speaker is very soft and cannot match that of Nokia but it is sufficient to hear from pocket / waist pouch. 4) Earpiece speaker distorts, though this may be network and range specific (I am using airtel) 5) Supplied leather case is useless as it is open from all sides and has no waist-clip. You will need to purchase waist pouch 6) GPS does not seem to work (as yet in my piece) though it worked in the middle of the mumbai race-course 7) You will need to install a number of software to increase functionalty. 8) FM app is pretty much useless. External handsfree cannot be used to jog through channels Please note that all of the above my bad experiences. Other wise the device is really very good and at this pricepoint is a extremely good buy as compared to Nokia N82 / HTC etc. Music features are good if you install a couple of more apps.

I just bought this model in bangalore for 17,200. And it came bundled with Satnav one India version. I suppose that is a change from the earlier bundle of not including free maps. Phone looks fine, except for memory outage warnings once in a while. Good value for money.

Thats right Sujay (Mumbai). TT can help in one way. They put up the product picture, the pros and the cons and have included the Rating also... Why cant they include the MRP there with a nice disclaimer (At the time of review. Subject to change!)??
