Asus has yet again pitted another of their phones - the Glide P552w - against the HTC Touch.

Powerful Processor (624MHz), Light, 2.8-inch screen, Finger Gesture, Windows Mobile 6.1.

Basic Software Bundle, No memory card, Poor Headset output, Very Expensive.

Build & Design

The Asus P552w is available in two color options; black and white, of which we received the black one. The phone looks good and is much better than the P320, which, though looked good, felt plasticky. The P552w also has a plastic build but it's got a rubberized finish that not only enhances the feel of the handset in the palm of your hand, but also gives a good grip of the device. The phone is marginally larger in dimensions than the HTC Touch but its light weight makes it very pocket friendly.

The face of this PDA is largely possessed by the large 2.8-inch screen. The screen has a 240x320pixels with 65K color support. The legibility of the screen under direct sunlight is pretty poor and if the brightness is set below 50 percent, it makes reading a strain.

Above the screen there is the earpiece and beside it an LED that blinks green notifying power status and red when alerting low battery, missed call or message received. The stylus compartment is at the top right corner and even though the stylus looks very plasticky, it is much better than the stylus seen on the Sony Ericsson W960i.

Below the screen there is a 5-way D-pad, which stands out with its chrome finish. Other than this there are two calling keys, a Glide button and an OK button. The calling keys are placed at the bottom corners of the phone which makes it a bit difficult to access. The Glide and the OK button also find the D-pad encroaching on their key space making them smaller.

One of the best phone in it's price..Rs. 18,500/-..but no HYPE...lightweight..White-one looks awesome...very very fast...very responsive to touch...descent battery life(don't expect 7 days stand by)..doesn't hang at all...can play all sorts of music file.. BAD points: display is little dull, sound is low compared to Nokia.

Over all good phone. Battery life not that good, only lasts for a day. One thing i would like to note when you compare with HTC Touch or Viva. HTC Touch/Viva does not have 3G and thats the major plus point (at least for me) ASUS has over HTC. IF you compare it with HTC dimond which has got 3G but doesn't have extended memory facility.

This review is a crap.I feel it's a hastily scribbled piece if junk. As a user let me tell you pl. do not believe it. It's one of the best phone in the market. Excellent Battery, Speed, Clarity and you can do any damn thing with it. Price also reasonable Rs. 21,000/-(Ex mumbai). Just go for it. Better stuff than HTC.

I have heard from my friend dat this is fastest model available in the market. I have seen the product on the website. It looks pretty decent and not like any cheap china mobile. But not sure about how it would be in reality.

No offenses ... but the design does make it look like one of those cheap Chinese mobile phones. At almost 28K, i'd demand a much better looking products, a better camera capability and more drool maal. This give me nothing but a hole in my pocket...and a big one too.
