A couple of weeks back, we reviewed a product from the company Apro. That was a 1 GB MP3 player with video capabilities and was priced very competitively; for not even being a known brand. In the previous MP3 player reviewed, the MSI we also felt that it was another Nano clone. This time Apro has their design which isn't anything but simple. Let's see if this Portable Media Player (PMP) really stands for what it's really made for; features at a bargain.
Bundle
The Apro PMP-MM55 came in a neat package with all the necessary goodies. Here's a list:
The Apro PMP-MM55
Earphones
MiniUSB cable
AV RCA cable
DC Power Charger
Carry Pouch
Utility CD
Features
The Apro PMP is perfect in size just enough to view videos as well as carry it around with dimensions 95 *60 *17.5mm. It has a 2.5-inch 260K color LCD display. Its color reproduction and the size are decent for PMP. The player sports 512 MB of in-built memory which isn't much when compared to the other PMPs available in market. The player solves the problem of less space with an SD card slot, which supports up to 2 GB SD/MMC Cards. There is no card bundled along with the player leaving it open for public to choose whichever capacity card will suit their needs. A PMP is primarily for viewing videos, this makes it obvious that PMPs should support various video formats. Apro on the other hand supports only .ASF video format. In the video capabilities the player does't lag behind offering AV IN/OUT. Whenever you want to share your videos with your folks or friends, you can view the content on the TV by connecting the two via the cables provided. The same cables can be used even to record videos from a source such as a TV or camcorder which supports RCA cables. While doing so the player has to be connected to a power output for best results. A PMP also works out as an audio player, so does the Apro PMP-MM55. The player on this front provides support for more formats; MP3, WMA, and WAV.
Leaving aside the audio-video capabilities, this player even doubles as a camera. It has a 3.2 MP CMOS camera fitted on the back. You can click pictures and even capture videos. Now, though there is a 3.2 MP camera it doesn't do anything good. The player also hosts a couple of games and a calendar application. You can read text files though it shows ebooks in the menu. It supports only .TXT files.
