Apple MacBook Air: Hands-on Experience

Apple MacBook Air: Hands-on Experience

All these days Apple kept saying there's something in the air; finally, it arrives.

Size and Weight

Although its footprint is nearly the same as that of the MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air is almost 70% thinner at its thinnest part, and looks at least 200% cooler. At 3 pounds (1.36 kg), the laptop isn't the lightest, but its good enough not to ruin the feel-good factor. It has a full aluminum alloy body with a matte finish and a metal-grayish color tone. Thankfully, it isn't the boring black or white body like other Apple laptops.

The Screen

The MacBook Air has a 13.3-inch glossy widescreen TFT LED backlit display that supports resolutions of up to 1280 x 800. It has a Mercury-free LCD display with arsenic-free glass.

Keyboard

Most compact or light weight laptops suffer from a case of cramped keyboards; not the MacBook Air. Although it's light, it isn't really compact, so it sports a full-size keyboard that is backlit with an ambient light sensor, which automatically adjusts keyboard illumination and screen brightness.

looks beautiful...I have a nano and a shuffle...and they are beautiful too...but if practicality is the order of the day...then we have similar devices for 1/2 or 1/4 the prices of macbook air. Every man his own choice...once again it is not about a CEO owning a macbook air. Anybody these days can buy anything...if they keep an eye on newegg/tigerdirect :)

I am very sure that Apple did not consider anyone using the gross acronyms a.k.a "LOLL" and "ROFLOL". So yes, you can call them "mindless", carry on God, a great mind-FULL reaction from you!

a few things to mention here........ yes of course it's worth it. 1.It has Mac OS X which is approx. 10000000000 times better than windows in looks, security and simplicity and in numerous other ways. 2.great thing abt one usb port as if ur using some 128 usb devices at the same time go buy a USB hub. 3.X300 costs more and has a slower processor. 4.the macbook air boasts better battery life too- 5 hrs with wi-fi turned on.And it's wireless n. 5.It's light, compact, good looking has bluetooth, integrated webcam etc. etc. 6.I can't see any reason why you would want a DVD drive except to watch movies......in that case what on earth do you use your home-theatre or portable video player for ? that concludes my speech.

The Laptop is for use as high end device. It assumes good penetration of WiFi which is not correct for India. But WI Fi would be available at most of metros and so the laptop would be useful in metro cities.
