    Amkette Wireless Trackball Keyboard [Review]

Roydon Cerejo, Jan 05, 2010 1300 hrs IST

A good idea but badly executed

    Lightweight, wireless 2.4GHz, compact

Trackball and keys aren't very responsive, tacky look and feel, build could have been better, expensive

Amkette, which is well-known for its PC storage products like floppy drives, has brought out a new wireless trackball keyboard. The company also has a large lineup of products ranging from pen drives to media players, and it was only recently that we reviewed the Amkette Flash TV.

The Wireless keyboard works on the 2.4GHz wireless range and comes with a pre-paired dongle for a quick setup. What's interesting is that it also has a trackball, which is perfect for HTPC users. This compact and lightweight keyboard looks quite promising, so let's see if it can deliver on the performance front as well.

Bundle

There really isn't much of a bundle other than the keyboard and dongle.

Hey Robbie. I don't agree with you. Since I have been using this Keyboard from last couple of months, I must say that this keyboard is very useful for every PC user. Both individual and families. I better name is REMOTE CONTROL of the COMPUTER.. It simply increased the enjoyment of my digital life...

I've been using this keyboard for the past 3 weeks for my HTPC. I've also been travelling to work with it once in a while. It's beautiful looking and always manages to get me compliments. The glossy finish although it attracts fingerprints, was an attraction for me. Within a 10 ft radius the keyboard is very responsive. No problems as such, but going outside that radius there is a dithering of trackbal sensitivity, though the keyboard was fine. I think since there are no other options in this category it was a worthy buy. overall i think if the trackbal was either a little bigger or heavier this keyboard would be perfect.
