Do you like a personal sound session or creating a neighborhood frenzy? Once you decide that, you may or may not consider this 5.1 channel speaker system option.
Good Sound Quality, Control Pod, Remote Control, Long Cables, Good Highs
Inadequate Bass at high volume, Confusing Rear Speaker Volume Adjustment, Bit expensive.
We reviewed the Bose Companion 5 sometime back which imitated a 5.1 channel surround sound system. Today we have with us a proper 5.1 system from Altec Lansing, one of the best in the multimedia systems. This system is similar to Bose, it supports plug-n-play. The inbuilt audio processing and the isobaric sub-woofer, it all seems to sound good; but is it good enough? Let's find out.

Did anyone know how make connection from fx5051 to the tv sony bravia? i want to make 6 channel analog output. thank before .. i really confusing about user guide from altec itself..
let me know what is the price of Altec Lansing FX5051 and all the hidden charges as well. What should be the mode of payment? Discounts rates too........
Hi all,
well i am getting dese Altec Lansing FX5051 brand new For around 6000 from crome.. I think in dis rate its like a loot. i missed the chance of getting logitech z5500 for rs 7000. so i am gonna buy dese. As i have heard the sound dese r awesome.
creative gigaworks G500 and G550W are best 5.1s out ther.... yah altec lansign wotn come close... but has to admit.. altec and lansings are the best out ther without THX certification and if u r genuine user, THX aint so much a thing.. lol u dont c a BOSE or Schneisser with THX.. do u??? any idea how much a creative G500 will cost??
All those ppl who feel that there is no bass it high volume, are correct, but, it becomes very uncomfortable at that high volume, so i don't even go near such high volume. I have used these speakers for my home theater(my HTPC) and its is very very good. 89 watts is more than what many would require. Remote is very handy. Looks good. Easy to setup. Fine buy.
what about altech lansing ?? is it better than creative T6060 at this power and price.?? please tell me.. and are u sure the price of creative T6060 is Rs.4400.
This system is crap when compared to the logitech Z-5300 it really outdelivers(dude its a freakin 280 Watt RMS Vs just 80 Watt RMS minus the bass FX5051) and if u really want something near this at a good range go for the Creative T6060 for rnd Rs. 4400/- or the Creative T6100 they are 5.1 speakers with an RMS of 72 and RMS of 76 respectively. These babies have the bass, i.e. u cant get a better bang for ur buck at this price and u can get a wireless remote which can connect to it purchase the Creative IP200 (seperately). give me a mail at anirudh_narain@hotmail.com if u want some further advice.
Hey Anirudh,
Please help me out, which one to chose. My budget is 6K. I want 5.1 speakers + sound card. Let me know if creative T6060 is good choice and if sound blaster is perfect for that
Never rely on PMPO ratings. PMPO ratings are mostly a marketing gimmick than a real measure of speaker power. In many foreign countries, it's mandatory for vendors to declare RMS rating of a speaker.
Multiply RMS value by 10 to get PMPO... For example the above mentioned speaker set has 89 watts rms or ~900 watts PMPO. But you should know that PMPO is just a fake specification... because 89 watts rms speakers can easily beat 1000 watts PMPO speakers...
at 12000 Rs. this aint bad. "no punch in bass... dont you tell that to nobody dude. Punch is enough to distribute to ur neignbours :) Still if you use 'Enhancer' plugin for Winamp and rock and roll. This system seems reasonably priced too..
I totally agree with Nitin, i got my Z5300 2 years back for 15000 & they managed to kill my pesky old neighbour whith just their loud sounds , yeah they are THX certified & are also 280 watts RMS as opposed to 80 in this weakling
Yes Nitin but Z5300 is not offering IR Remote and it is really nice and handy to have one. Also IMHO the DSP processor Enhancer for Winamp you must check out dudes if you have not..let me know how it sounds.
As far as I know, mp3s are not 5.1. So if you intend to use these speakers for mp3 mostly, then its a waste, you will get only 2 speaker output. Better go for 2.1 speakers from altec lansing like atp3 or mx-5021 (best 2.1 IMHO commonly available in the market).
5.1 would be useful if you play original DVD movies and games.
even if u play mp3 on the 5.1 speakers..though its a stereo sound..it playes from all the channels...so u get the immersive sound which cannot be generated with a 2.1 set of speakers
