Design and Construction

The Aigo MP-F598 is dressed in a run-of-the-mill white shade. It is neither attractive looking; nor is it an eye-sore. Design-wise, it somewhat resembled a miniaturized version of the HTC Touch! The body is made of plastic and feels somewhat cheap. I don't think it could take a lot of abuse. It's pretty light though and portable (fits in the pocket comfortably).

The front is occupied by the screen and the navigation buttons to its side.

The 2-inch screen has decent brightness. Text of the UI is decently readable. But the resolution is lower than the standard QVGA (320x240) pixels seen on most players these days. But I would call it slightly better than the Transcend T.Sonic 850's screen. The buttons are a little stiff to operate. Though it's troublesome, this ensures that there's no accidental clicking while using the player.

An on-off switch along with the miniUSB port lies on one side. The other consists of the 3.5mm ear-phone jack and a miniSD card slot.

The cover protecting the miniUSB port is very hard to remove if one doesn't have long fingernails. You'd have to resort to yanking it out with a pointed object. While miniSD cards are not as popular as their microSD and standard SD siblings, the slot ensures the possibility to expand memory in the future, should you feel the need.

The tiny speaker grille is placed at the back of the player.
