There are several utilities available for fighting adware and spyware, and Lavasoft's Ad-Aware has been a favorite weapon of choice among the masses for some time now. Ad-Aware 2007 has recently emerged from the Beta stages and is now armed with a stylish interface. It also has some really neat upgrades for their scanning engine that doesn't take a toll on your computer's think tank.
About
Ad-Aware 2007, just like its previous versions, is a freeware. It takes care of all adware and spyware that settle in your PC by providing advanced options to remove them. Problems such as lots of advertising pop-ups, sluggish running of the PC, etc. are signs that your computer has fallen victim. Ad-Aware is one of the best in the business and which is why it's a popular software.
Interface & Features
Ad-Aware has a neat interface which features skinning; for those who want a cool looking adware and spyware removable tool, there are two skins provided in the default setup. The interface is spread over six tabs on the left-side of the Ad-Aware window. The free version is very simple to follow, even for a novice. All the common tasks are placed in such a way that you don't need to go hunting for them.
The first tab provides a complete view of Ad-Aware's status on your PC. Details such as System Protection, Update Status, System Scan and License Status are all placed under this tab. This is the tab where you can manually update the definition files of the software, by just clicking the update button in the Update Status section.
The second is the Scan tab that includes three screens, all part of a single process. On the first screen, you are provided with three types of scan options, and also the option to schedule regular scans. The three scan options are: Smart Scan, Full Scan, and Custom Scan. Smart Scan is a typical choice when there are regular full scans done in short periods of time. The Full Scan checks your entire PC for adware and spyware.
The last option, Custom Scan is for the advanced user. Here you can manually add folders or drives that you know are infected. Then you hit the scan button, this is your first step. The second step comprises of scanning, which displays progress bars for overall scan progress and the progress of the very section that Ad-Aware is scanning. This screen offers just one button i.e., the button to terminate the scanning. Once the scanning is done, the third screen provides in-depth scan results over three tabs with options such as Cleaning, Quarantine, and even System Restore point.
Kaspersky AV latest + Zone Alarm Pro ver 4.5 + Spybot SD sans TeaTimer + Noadware and you have the best antivirus and rootkit cleaner and best firewall and good Adware protection and best Adware removal. End all debates please. Used all and seen all and this is it.

Version 2007 is very buggy, too many services, process in background. Microsoft Windows Defender is better than this. I M still using Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE 1.0.6.0. For me Avast Home Edition Anti-Virus + Microsoft Windows Defender + Comodo Firewall Pro combination rocks.
