We had reviewed the AMD-based Aspire 4520 sometime back. Now with "Intel Inside", will it perform better?
Santa Rosa Platform, Bluetooth, Web-cam, Good build, Good battery life, Well priced, International warranty.
Average memory bandwidth, Slightly bulky to carry around.
A little less than 2 months back, we reviewed the Acer Aspire 4520 which was a pure Value for Money (VFM) solution. While the 4520 was an AMD-based laptop, the Aspire 4720 series that I am reviewing today is its Intel counterpart. Let's see what difference this notebook makes with an "Intel Inside" it...

Most Acer products are cheap hence quality is really poor. Aspire 4720 has great specs for its price; hence it turned out to be very poor quality products. In fact, it has a design flaw. While using this product screen turns white and user cannot do any thing. You loose all the work and only option is to cold power off. Acer has not been to resolve this issue and the service is very poor. Acer has lots of issues with service. Hence even if price looks very attractive do not buy Acer products because you would be left high and dry, without any support. They have many hidden and anti-customer terms and conditions on their site regarding warranty. Do not touch Acer laptops. Best wishes Prem

Well, i dont know about the bad service, but what you say about quality issues is complete crap. The quality is fairly good and plus ur issue with 'white screens' happen with my dell also, which costed by over $2000 us! People, buy Acer laptops!!

I had problem with the dvd writer and some sound problem, I went to the Cervice Centre at 8 PM in evening, they received the complaint with happy face, created a Job card, placed a service number, they ordered a new dvd writer and set of speakers for my notebook, which i hope will be replaced next week, never mind if there was problem when they are ready to fix it, everyby have problem so does the notebook.

i bought this laptop for 34000rs. from Tata Croma shop ahmedabad. they are giving 5% discount if you use icici bank credit or debit cards. good buy. dell takes 4 weeks to deliver. too long for me.

Its the one of very fine machine. I baugh T5250 with santa rosa, 1 GB ram (upgraded to 2GB) and its working very good, plays DVD movies well. sound is a bit low but very good quality sound i should say. Very nice look. Softwares like Visual Studio 2005, SQL 2005 works fine

acer aspire 4720 comes in both 1.50 ghz (c2d T5250) and 1.66 ghz which is c2d T5450 (new). one should buy acer aspire 4720 with 1.66 ghz (processor T5450) based on intel's new santa rosa platform. it has excellent performance as compared to old 4720 model. i purchased it at rs 34500(inclusive of all taxes) with carry bag from nehru place, delhi. in chandigarh it is some 2000 bucks costly.

Guys- when U talk to dell rep.- while ordering a laptop or Monitor etc etc- use your verbal skills to negotiate a good price- most sales men on line on dell site- on a good day will normally give U tax off discount ( they have lots of flexibility and are not rigid). and if U r lucky like a friend recently was- he got 3k off on the laptop!~!! ( sales person had to fulfill a quota). In any case Genuine windows vista with media that comes with Dell Inspiron 1420 is worth 6.5k in market. Quality wise Dell is beyond compare vis a vis Acer.

vijay is right, dell is the best at price, upgradability and customizability. no one provide such costumization like em. and why worry for 2 or 3 thousand bucks, if you are getting mobility with functionality and good power backup from a renowned company.

I have taken Aspire 4730Z 2 weeks back and installed geunine Windows XP.Its worth buying this model however have maitain the keypad since it is light color.Finally i suggest this product who carries LapTop all the time coz its too heavy.
