Apple Computer has reportedly released an update to its music software, iTunes 7.1, but failed to resolve compatibility issues with Windows Vista.
About a month back, Apple had issued a warning against installing Vista before this problem is fixed.
Now, after the release of iTunes 7.1, the company has removed the warning from its Web site, and instead has posted a message saying that the updated iTunes is recommended for use with most editions of Windows Vista. The message further reads that iTunes 7.1 software fixes a number of unspecified Windows Vista compatibility issues, but leaves several potential problems unresolved.
Still further, the posting reads that the company is active in talks with Microsoft to resolve remaining issues.
Some of the problems that persist are possible corruption of the iPod when ejected from the PC, and difficulty in synchronizing Windows contacts with the iPod. Besides, iTunes text and graphics does not display correctly on Vista, though resizing could solve the problem.
Additionally, Apple has reminded users that iTunes still does not support 64-bit editions of either Windows XP or Vista.
However, the company does not say anything as to the time line for fixing all issues and making iTunes completely Vista compatible.
