While Apple iPhone and iPod Touch users are still making up their mind to jailbreak their devices, Pwnage Tool 3.1.4 by iPhone Dev Team was announced. Once again, Mac OS X users gain over Windows based ones with new Pwnage Tool version. The new Pwnage Tool 3.1.4 tool can be used to jailbreak iPhone 2G/3G/3GS and iPod Touch 1G/2G on 3.1.2 firmware update.

Pwnage Tool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X allows the baseband to remain unlocked at 3.1.2 and doesn t unlock the new baseband if restored with original 3.1.x file. The iPhone Dev team advices to install Ultrasn0w carrier unlock after restoring the iPhone with custom IPSW. The best part about this version is that if the device is already jailbroken earlier, one need not put it into DFU Mode. Just create a custom IPSW or get one from somewhere to restore the iPhone.

Again, restore the iPhone device with latest Pwnage Tool and not with old version. The new version will also fix the issues caused in devise jailbroken using the Blackra1n method. Issues regarding mobile substrate, winterboard, diskaid or ifunbox would be taken care of by restoring with the custom IPSW created using Pwnage Tool 3.1.4. Also, this version allows jailbreak iPhone 3GS users stuck on 3.1.x firmware.

There s no Windows based Pwnage Tool available and this release doesn t support the new iPod Touch 3G.
