The much awaited media player - Zune HD's price has been finally revealed! Amazon, the online retailer is taking pre-orders for Microsoft Zune HD media player. The player will be available in 16GB and 32GB capacity but no further information is available on the individual models.
Goof-up?
Oops, Amazon did it again? Seems like a mistake on Amazon part as the goof-up apparently comes immediately after Zune HD was showed at GDGT launch party followed by spy video leak.
Earlier today, Gizmodo reported about Zune HD price leaks with screenshots showing price and other details of Zune HD 16GB and 32GB models. In the screen shots, the arrival date for Zune HD is listed as September 8 and so we need not say more on this. Following that Amazon showed up pre-order page listing 16GB Zune HD Black for $220 (Rs. 10,560 approx.) and 32GB Zune HD Platinum for $290 (Rs. 13,920 approx.). The pre-order page looks static and leads to an error page when clicked on individual model for more information. Zune vs iPod
On comparing prices with respective capacities, the 16GB Zune HD costs $220 (Rs. 10,560 approx.) while second generation 16GB iPod Touch costs $299 (Rs. 14,400 approx.). On the other hand, 32GB Zune HD costs $290 which is way cheaper than the 32GB iPod Touch (second generation) which costs $399 (Rs. 19,200 approx.). Hence the price difference between both brands is fairly visible here.
Yet another feature that iPod Touch misses out on is ability to use iPod Touch as external storage, at least officially. Once jailbroken, the iPod Touch or iPhone can be used as external storage but needs third party program to manage it.
Microsoft had launched second generation of Zune with higher capacities last year in September, yet again before Apple announced second generation iPod Touch. Will it be the same this year or both companies have something new to share which hasn't been leaked on the web? We'll have to wait till September to find out what Microsoft has in store for us.
I beg your pardon my friend. Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said in an interview that Apple's annual product cycle for iPod falls in October. This means October is usually the time when they launch new iPod or update it.
