Dude, nothing is free or cheap in this world. Xenitis laptop are really poor in quality. The cost of work loss will be more than the price difference bw xenitis and any good brand. I was in Italy and my xenitis laptop didnt start. There is no genuine support.

Hello faiz.... this message is intended for you only....Can you run dotnet applications or simply install visula studio 2005 on you Cyrix Computer If Not Then please do not endorse like our cricketers do....
by Sony, N.Delhi, on Nov 01, 2007 01:15 PM, Report abuse Reply
I didn't want to answer for Faiz, but this is a real stupid comment that I can't resist ! He is not saying you buy a Cyrix Computer and run Visual studio ! He is simply stating a point that you don't need lots of computing power to run applications. You seem to be about as smart as our cricketers !

What ports are available in it. Since I need parallel port and infra red for my application. Also is it provided with DVD or CD Rom? Battery backup..?
by Ravichandran, Puducherry, on Oct 31, 2007 11:49 PM, Report abuse Reply
I doubt you will get either a Parallel port & most definitely no Infrared port. I believe this laptop has a CD-RW - DVD Rom combo drive. Battery backup should be about 2 and a half hours or so.

way too expensive. I bought my laptop in US for $600 (converting to Rs. 24000) AMD 64 X2 Athlon Dual Core 1.8Ghz 2GB RAM Windows Vista Home Premium. 160GB HD, DVD Burner, 15.4 Wide screen bright TOSHIBA Laptop. BEAT THAT

You bought a laptop in the U.S. while this is India ! In the U.S. last year C++ for dummies was $30, but in India I can get the same book here for 200 bucks (original book). Beat that !

total waste of money.. it cant run anything except simple net browsing and typing of love letters in ms word.

Do you have any idea about how much processing power you need? A 1Ghz processor with 256MB Ram running XP can do a lot more than what you think it can. I have used a 233Mhz Cyrix processor with 32MB RAM to render complex CAD files in 3dMax some 7 years back and for your information it worked pretty well at that time. Do not spit out what you feel before having enough awareness. If you don't like this cheap-basic machine go for its expensive brother. But never under estimate things like this...
by Faiz, Calicut, India, on Oct 31, 2007 05:05 PM, Report abuse
Well said Faiz ! I wonder why people crib all the time. If they want a better laptop, they can spend 1 lac and they can get a really good one. This is a good laptop and the Celeron processor is a very capable processor indeed. The only thing which could be lacking in this notebook is the build quality.
by Brendon, Mumbai, on Oct 31, 2007 09:16 PM, Report abuse
Hmmm...yeah... for those who gets funding from Dad for the stuff..may be.. but for those who have worked on low end stuff and got the considerably good reults will certainly welcome this product. Technology should be within the reach of a common man and this is a step towards..thats what I think. I guess Techtree will bring the review of the same products in weeks to come.

ya, 7 years back it worked fine... my pc which was running like a cheetah suddenly got slow within 1 year as i installed newer version of same old programs i used before.... now a days companies dont code for performance but rather features... so a RAM upgrade is something minimal u shd be looking at... as such me not against the 20K laptop... many people will find the use as per their need

Faiz, Are you one of those anachronistic wannabe nerds who have never gone beyond Windows 95 and IE 3.0 or just plain retard. Do you even know about the minimum configuration for windows vista????
by Anonymous, New Delhi, on Nov 01, 2007 09:51 PM, Report abuse
Ofcourse I can also not disagree that the required power depends on the user and what he does with the machine, which again depends on how much the user is experienced with handling a keyboard and other input devices. If you are a slow-snail-user, the cofig is good. After all there was a time we ran Windows and all of Office on a 233 MHz. But I agree that an advanced user will not find this device worth a single day's use with Windows XP, Photoshop and say the AJAX and Web 2.0 on the internet.
by ddas-edn, kolkata, on Nov 02, 2007 01:34 PM, Report abuse
Vista ???? It can easily run Vista if you upgrade the ram ! But Vista is a super bloated & slow OS. I feel you should either stick with XP or be adventurous and get Linux.
by Brendon, Mumbai, on Nov 03, 2007 12:41 PM, Report abuse
Speaking of Vista, my laptop is a Celeron 1.6 with 512 MB ram and my sis has a laptop with a Core 2 duo 1.8 with 1 GB ram with Vista Business. Guess which laptop is snappier !
by Brendon, Mumbai, on Nov 03, 2007 01:01 PM, Report abuse
That config [Intel Celeron M 1.4Ghz (360), 256 MB RAM, 80 GB HD, Combo 3-in 1 Card Reader, Intel 945GM Chip Set, and 14.1-inches WXGA LCD] will hardly run any useful applications of today. You can't truly call this a student's-laptop also. A configuration like this was still ok a few years back, but now using it will cause nothing but pain and frustration. I have used Celeron powered computers a long time back, and my impression is that it is not decent product. The intent of this seller looks like - fast business and fast money till stocks last. There are many many customers who will be lured into buying these laptops flashing such a low price tags. Also following the ethics of these companies, the consumer won't even be informed about the negatives about the configuration and what the disadvantages might soon seem to crop up.
by ddas-edn, kolkata, on Nov 02, 2007 01:22 PM, Report abuse Reply
Do you know anything about processors ??? The Celeron processor here and the Celeron processor on a desktop are two completely different processors ! Celeron is a brand name for goodness sake ! It is basically a Pentium - M processor with half the cache. Thats it ! It is a capable processor indeed. At this price range you get a ACI notebook with a VIA 1 Ghz processor. Now thats a slow processor not this ! And even that processor is more than capable of running most programs. I have a Celeron Notebook and my sis has a Core 2 duo notebook and I find hardly any diff between the two. Mine is faster since it is on Win XP, but we all know Vista just slows down a computer. So please try and restrain yourself from making such negative comments about something you don't understand. Thanks

Should probably not run XP on just 256MB ram. Linux would be much better. Also, what kind of networking options does it have? Any integrated LAN / Wifi card in it?

Dont say negetive. Encourage Xenitis (Aamar PC) for their performance. We, lower middle cast customer, are lucky to get a stylish laptop within 20000. But if budget allow you Xenitis will give you Core 2 Duo laptop, obviously feature riched, at lowest price in India. Xenitis Desktop is much better than other reputed Br in view of Configuration, Price and Service. I have two Xenitis Desktop. One is Intel Dual core, 512 DDR2, 945, 160 GB, 15 inch CRT with Onsite warranty at Rs 17000 and Other is Celeren (low configuration ) at Rs 12800. 2 weeks ago I face RAM< problem. I log log in their Toll Free Number. within 24 hours their service man Change my PC's RAM. He came from Kolkata. I live at Raghunathganj. 260 KM away from Kolkata. Good Luck XENITIS GROUP. I will buy your C2D laptop within few days. and I am confirmed that you will provide me the Best at same price compare to Shahrukh, Hritik and Saif

Cheating people with 1.4Ghz (360), 256 MB RAM it would be too slow with XP, chat servers neither this will be useful for browsing or MSoffice. Performance will be a big issue and you will dump it.
by Balaji, Zurich, on Nov 01, 2007 04:50 PM, Report abuse Reply
Cheating people??? Please read the title. Its a Sub 20 K laptop. Want more features... they gave you the option to upgrade... They are not forcing you to buy it.. If you have more money.. go for another one.. Besides to answer a lot of people. a 800 Mhz comp with 256 mb RAM is enough to run an oracle/SQL server and does good .NET compiling on VS .Net 2003(i suppose)... chatting clients, MS Office are tooo basic applications and run well on even P-II's with 333 MHz processors and 128 MB RAM. ... and believe me i dont have anything to do with these guys.... Just putting this info as a kinda guid for people who want to buy a comp.

I am really proud to be an Indian and a Kolkatan. Now this group will really give the BIG guys a run for their money. The concept itself is really noble and honestly... the C2D config + price looks really great. I work for an MNC and use a Dell C2D laptop that cost the company today around 55K+. Now imagine... if they can offer the same quality at almost half the price... what more to ask for? All the best Xenitis... we'd like to see you global.
