Microsoft seems is all set to officially launch Windows Mobile 6.5 at the Tech Ed 2009 event expected to run from May 11 through May 15 at Los Angeles.
However, there is no clarity on how exactly the "launch" will take place. Will we see the new OS laden handsets? Windows Mobile 6.5 was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February.
We have reason to believe that the version that might be shown at the Tech Ed event will be different from the ones displayed at the MWC because the OS has underwent lot of changes since then.
WinMo 6.5 is the stopgap OS that will make current Windows Mobile 6.1 laden devices a loot "cooler". With the advent of sleeker, sexier smartphone platforms like the iPhone, Android and the WebOS from Palm, Windows needs much more than this stopgap OS. And that will come in the form of Windows Mobile 7 which we expect sometime in 2010.
