As we noted earlier that Microsoft was rumored to unveil Windows 7 release candidate in May. On Saturday, Michael Stanclift of Neowin.net pointed out the Microsoft Partner Program page stating Windows 7 RC release date.

But later, Microsoft pulled down the details from the page and now old Windows 7 Beta information shows up on the Microsoft Partners page.

The Microsoft Partners page stated that the partners who have subscribed to the MSDN or TechNet could download the Windows 7 release candidate. Soon the details about the Windows 7 RC date spread over the web like wild fire.

As per the information on the page:

Partners: If you have a subscription to MSDN or TechNet, you can download Windows 7 RC now. Otherwise, you can download Windows 7 RC starting May 5.

It is not surprising that MSDN or TechNet subscribers cannot download Windows 7 RC at the moment. After the page about Windows 7 RC information was pulled down few users contacted Microsoft Online Concierge about details on the same.

In response, the following quote was available from Microsoft Online Concierge Chat: "Currently the Windows 7 RC has not been available through the TechNet subscription yet, only the Microsoft OEM partners such as Dell, Siemens are taking part in the RC's this period of test." So, only OEM partners would be participating in the RC testing process. But it's unusual to see Microsoft put up download link instead of shipping them copies of Windows 7 RC which they usually do.

Nevertheless, these leaks indicate that Windows 7 release candidate will be available in May. Whether general public would be getting soon after MSDN and TechNet subscribers get their hands-on is the only question at the moment.

Windows 7 rocks!!! Recent builds have been really stable and many users, including myself, have used them as the primary OS for some time.

I have used Windows 7 OS (beta ver.) It is not the user friendly at the moment as it does support most of the useful softwares that are needed by the average user today. I hope, its regular version comes up with good expections...
