The Scorpio hard drives are claimed to sport a transfer rate of 3 Gb/s, and can be used in OEM NB platforms.
Western Digital (WD) has started shipping its new Scorpio 320 GB 2.5-inch SATA (Serial ATA) hard drives for notebook (NB) PCs and portable storage devices.
Featuring WD proprietary head technologies such as WhisperDrive, ShockGuard, and IntelliSeek, these new Scorpio hard drives sport a transfer rate of 3 Gb/s, and can be used in OEM NB platforms.
According to WD, the WhisperDrive technology combines algorithms to render the Scorpio 320 GB hard drives as the quietest 5400 RPM, 2.5-inch drives available.
