VoodooPC founder rubbishes rumors
Recent reports regarding the retirement of the Voodoo PC lineup have been rubbished by VoodooPC founder Rahul Sood. In a recent interview with Gizmodo, Rahul has pooh-poohed claims by some sections of the media who had reported that VoodooPC could be "shut down".
Rahul has however confirmed that VoodooPC, with an intention to spread it wings to other markets is working on a closer integration with HP to get a strong foothold in emerging markets in Asia. He added that VoodooPC also plans to shift the manufacturing base of notebooks from Calgary, Alberta to somewhere in Asia. This would definitely mean some of the employees being affected -- with layoffs being an immediate certainty.
As for complaints coming in from users about Voodoo ignoring its core audience, the hardcore gamers, Rahul countered that as much as 25% of VodooPC customers are gamers, while the others buy VoodooPC for what the looks and the unconventional designs. VoodooPC has also revealed plans about concentrating on D-I-Y kits for the enthusiast gamer. As of now, it is unclear as to what exactly these kits would offer.
