Saw this thing recently. Was priced for about 19K. Though the 1.3 megapixel webcam and height adjustable stand add-ons seem enticing at first sight, the fact remains that Acer AL2223WD owns it's ass. Especially when it comes to the image quality, clarity and price.

I totally agree with you Vijay ji. Infact let me give you a better picture of how much higher costs we pay for basic entry level components in india as compared to the US. CPU: INTEL CORE2DUO E6600: Rs.9076 MOBO: ASUS P5B-PLUS: Rs.5600 RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB 800Mhz DDR2 Rs.4000!!! This is around 20k in india! VIDEO CARD: XFX 8800GTS 320MB GDDR3 Rs.12170. This one is around 18k! DVD WRITER: LITE-ON 20X SATA DVD+R Burner with LightScribe Rs.1700 DISPLAY: ViewSonic VG2230wm Black 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Rs.11800. Must be around 14k! PSU: Thermaltake TR2 500W: Rs. 3220 HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB SATA Rs. 2000. CPU COOLER: ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler Rs.1385 KB: LogitechRs.450 MOUSE: Logitech MX518 2-Tone 8 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB + PS/2 Wired Optical Gaming-Grade Mouse Rs. 1645.This must be around Rs. 2400! UPS: APC 600VA Rs.2300 CABINET: I-BALL BENZ Rs.1500 Total: Rs.55346. (approx) JUST IMAGINE HOW MUCH WE WOULD PAY FOR THIS THING IN INDIA. ALL PRICES FROM NEWEGG (EXCEPT I-BALL CABINET and APC UPS!)

Consider this a Thumb Rule. $ price * 61 would be the Indian price. There are import duties and other taxes. Just dont do a blind $ price * 41. Just to refute you, consider the GB Pound price. You'll come back running to India.

22 Inch size with The 1,680-by-1,050 widescreen panel is becoming a virtual dejeur in the west. With prices tumbling to $ 225-250 even. However for reasons best known to them- Viewsonic has decided to implement a confiscatory price of 30k on VX2255wmb ? for a 22 inch LCD of not very great accomplishment. It is today available at $ 314 plus $ 10 shipping anywhere in USA, which translates to Rs. 13162-00 there. Why we Indian should be privileged to pay 230 percent of international price ?I fail to understand. Specially when an excellent Dell 22 inch panel is 16.5k in India- Viewsonic- welcome to reality people- Indians are not mere dumbos. & days of east India company style pricing are over- U can sell these 22 inch panels. a lot at 16.5k but at 30k- perhaps a few fools will buy these..

Last I checked Dell 22 incher was available at 19k at Dell's (indian) website. Can you please guide me to this great 16k deal, please? Having that said, even I feel that prices for computer peripherals are too high in India. Not just monitors but Graphic Cards, Motherboards and CPUs are way too expensive compared to US market. I strongly feel that our government should re-consider duties placed on computer peripherals.

Well Said Vijayshimla. Most of this Hiked price are mainly not due to government policies but due to the so called large scale importers. Actuals they are the people who decide what products enter our market and at what price, what price should prevail for how much period, when prices should come down... this is further aggravated by the market and sales channel down stream up to the local vendor... so ultimately the end-user get boasted and boosted price. Companies should market their products direct to the customers at a price that is same as the international price to curb this kind of exploiting importers and marketers.
