Will offer HD image and video capture, using the Micro Four Thirds System
Panasonic has recently unveiled a new camera that will use the Micro Four Thirds System (MFTS). It'll capture all images in HD (High Definition) and will record videos too. The prototype is currently being termed as the 'Lumix G HD'.
The camera will be the first of its kind to have interchangeable lens.
According to sources, the new camera looks similar to the G1 (launched earlier this month), except that it has a microphone and a speaker on the top to cater to its video-capturing capability. The camera also has a 'record video' button at the back.
No revelations regarding the HD compression have been made by Panasonic. However, it is likely to use H.264.
The Panasonic Lumix G is expected to be available mid-2009 with a price tag exceeding $1500.
