Tul Corporation has announced its Gen-Next graphics card, PowerColor HD 2900 XT, also known as 'R600'.

The 700 million-transistor 'R600' can be quite a hair-raising beast, with a core speed of 740MHz, and a memory speed of 1.65GHz for a 512MB GDDR3 memory.

According to Tul, the 'R600,' built with 320 unified stream processors, and the world's first 512-bit memory interface; is capable of taking on the demands of DirectX 10 games.

The 'R600' comes with built-in HDMI with HD audio support for single HDTV connectivity, a unique feature, enabled by an intelligent DVI to HDMI adapter, sans any internal SPDIF or other audio cabling.

Besides, the graphics card bundles Valve Corporation's 'Black Box gaming bundle,' comprising three games; namely, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal. The graphics card package comes for about $399 (Rs 17,955 approx), gaming bundle included at no additional cost.

Key specs of the 'R600' include: 740MHz Core, 1650MHz Memory; 512MB GDDR3, 512-bit Interface; 320 Unified Stream Processors; DirectX 10 Support; High-speed 128-bit-HDR (High Dynamic Range) rendering ; Phyics processing support; Built-in HDMI with Multi-channel 5.1 surround sound; Dual dual-link DVI with full resolution HDCP support; and Integrated CrossFire support.

Speaking at the occasion, Ted Chen, CEO of Tul Corporation, said, "HD 2900 XT not only offers superb experience in DirectX 10 gaming, but inclusion of built-in HDMI, and the Valve bundle makes this an incredible offer!"

After all the months that I've been waiting for this to turn up, the reviews show it to be a huge disappointment and it is only comparable to the 3rd best product from nvidia. It is much slower than 8800 GTX and ultra. Why couldnt AMD give us a faster solution!! BIIIIG let down!!

Its price is comparable to 8800GTS, against which it performs quite well, specially in case of shader intensive next gen games its performance is comparable/better to 8800GTX. See detailed review at TechReport, Tomz. Besides it has a lot more new features. HDMI output with integrated sound processing, dedicated tessellator, programmable filters etc. Which will be useful for the newer generation DX10 games.

No it isn't. This will be more expensive than the GTS. if you look at USD prices, R600 is $400 while the GTS 640 can be bought for $350. From the review sites u mention, it seems the card is not suited for multimedia because it runs too hot and is too noisy. but my point is not how comparable it is to 8800GTS, my point is why hasnt ATI been able to deliver a product that is comparable to the best from the competition which is 7 months old. I'm sad to see ATI coming to this..

blogger, don't compare HD 2900XT with GTX, it competes with GTS...also , i have seen HD 2900XT performance from various tech site, it could not match with 8800GTX, but it outperforms GTS cards...let stable driver come out for HD 2900XT, u will gonna see every site HD 2900XT outperforming GTS... even tweaktown.com benchmark, they said an overcloked HD 2900XT could come very close to GTX... R600 is a solid product & worth to go than GTS....

$399 = 17k So this time there will not be any import tax? that is unlikely. Most likely, this will be priced for 25k. Can someone clarify this? where is this available?

Yeah right, there will not be anything available as is usual from ATI. Plus, this card is slower than NVIDIA offerings and MUCH slower in DX10. See benchmarks on firingsquad
