Transcend Intros USB 2.0 Flash Drive
Techtree News Staff Email Print
Dec 1, 2006
Transcend has released its brand new USB 2.0 Flash Drive, the JetFlash 180, it's first USB Flash Drive with a stainless steel body.

With its fingerprint-resistant Stainless Steel body, the JetFlash 180 measures only 49.3 mm long by 15.4 mm wide by 6.56 mm thin. It can be plugged conveniently into the USB port on desktop or notebook computer, for transferring, storing, and sharing files.

The JetFlash 180 is built using Hi-Speed SLC Nand-type Flash (Read 10~12MB/s, write 8MB/s), and is engineered using top quality components, ensuring better performance and a long life.

In addition, the JetFlash 180 is enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost technology, which can not only accelerate start and program running speed, but also increase memory performance.

Windows ReadyBoost is one of Microsoft Windows Vista's innovative features that enables computer users to simply connect a removable flash memory device, such as a USB pen drive, SD card, CF card, or other memory form to boost the system performance of a desktop or notebook computer. When the USB pen drive or flash card is removed from the computer, the system automatically goes back to its original settings.

Moreover, the JetFlash 180 features some interesting functions, such as PC-Lock, Secret-Zip, and Mail function. The PC-Lock makes the JetFlash 180 a key to lock the PC; Secret-Zip compresses and/or password protects saved files using AES encryption; and Mail function allows secure sending, receiving, and saving e-mails. It also allows users to store their favorite Web site addresses.

The JetFlash 180 comes bundled with useful software applications, such as the JetFlash elite software package, which focuses on the needs of the user, and is specifically developed to help you manage your data and increase your productivity.

Compatible with Microsoft Windows 98SE/2000/Me/XP and the newly launched Windows Vista, the new JetFlash 180 is expected to be available in the coming weeks in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacities, at prices of Rs 2,000; Rs 2,750; and Rs 5,500 respectively.

This is a great product and is very useful as it is secure, but if you really want to protect your data go for transcend 210 which has a fingerprint scanner.
