Mar 14, 2008
Transcend has announced its shock-resistant high-capacity portable hard drive -- the StoreJet 25 Mobile -- in the country.

All of 206g weight, the StoreJet 25 Mobile measures just 134mm by 80.8mm by 18.8mm, and is easy to ferry around thanks to its compact form factor. It sports an extra-rugged shock-proof Silicon outer case, and can store up to 250GB of data.

Transcend claims the StoreJet 25 Mobile meets US military drop-test standards with its advanced two-stage anti-shock technology. Besides, the portable hard drive uses high-speed USB 2.0 interface to provide data transfer rates of up to 480Mb per second, while offering plug-and-play convenience.

Transcend claims its StoreJet 25 Mobile makes external storage easier and more productive with OneTouch Auto-Backup button, as well as bundled StoreJet elite software that offers intelligent back-up scheduling, security, and file compression functions.

And, the drive supports all commonly-used operating systems including Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Mac OS 9.0 or later, and Linux Kernel 2.4.2 or later.

To enlist all specifications of the StoreJet 25 Mobile: Durable shock/slip-resistant silicone outer case; Shock absorbing suspension system to protect internal hard drive from damage; OneTouch Auto-Backup button; LED that indicates power on and data transfer activity; fully High-Speed USB 2.0 compliant and backwards compatible with USB 1.1; Data transfer rates up to 480Mb per second; StoreJet elite software pack included; OneTouch Backup; USB port; hot-swappable plug-and-play USB interface

The StoreJet 25 Mobile will be available in 160GB and 250GB capacities through Supertron Electronics and Mediaman Infotech. The drive comes along with a two-years warranty. Transcend will reveal pricing of StoreJet 25 Mobile within a week or so, it said.

They should price the product sensibly. Just adding a fancy silicone casing won't sway informed buyers. Linux support is welcome and much appreciated.
